Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Financially, you're better off waiting until the motor needs to come out for another reason, or at least setting aside the money to do a bunch of stuff all at once (like the clutch).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 996tt, 58k, and runs like a watch. Question: considering pinning/welding the coolant pipes along with the 60k service. I realize that its an expensive upgrade. I think it boils down to peace of mind...on the west coast, any thoughts...do it...leave it alone?? Thx

POST 3Original post

This is the non-Turbo forum, but a lot of Turbo owners (like me) still peruse this section. I'm of the opinion that if your car is a street car and not tracked, don't make a special trip to a shop just to have the pipes pinned or welded. If you lose a coolant fitting, it can ruin your day but it won't harm your engine. Financially, you're better off waiting until the motor needs to come out for another reason, or at least setting aside the money to do a bunch of stuff all at once (like the clutch).

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
