Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Have used these on my 928 for over a year and they work great.
Leading evidence: 'Use these' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend anyone without a lift' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

And you can use the mid-rise scissor lift to drop the motor with a slight modification to the rear crossmember of the lift.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Interesting idea but you need to jack up the car 8 times to get it on 4 jack stands, and it only works with the wheels on. Not sure on the price difference, but JackPoint stands seem like a better choice.

(No affiliation and I don't own a set)
I looked at these, too, but I really needed to be able to take the wheels off. Thanks to the fine folks on this forum, I eventually did the Right Thing and got some Jackpoints. IMO, one of my better decisions....

I have the Jackpoints and like them a lot. Prior to using them, I had never used jackstands before so I have nothing to compare them to. They are well made, solid, and easy to use. I wish I could get a bit more height out of them but that's about it.
It is possible to get a couple more inches of height if you have the low profile pads. Send me an email at

and we can discuss the options.
SafeTJack - the jack pad is actually the top of the jack stand.
Now that there finally appears to be a distributor for these, I'ma buy one.

Dunno, I'm a bit lazy and do not wanna jack up one by one.
Probably gonna get this in the future sometime:

^ Yeah, I'm not sure I could get one under the 996. As far as the design goes, I know the guy who did the analysis on the design. They're solid.
The SafeTJack was being sold at Sears for a while, but at the time I was in a townhome and didn't have the space.
That said, the Quickjack looks like the shiz. Want.
I'm not a Cobra guy but I would LOVE to have a Superformance GT40 as I know I will never be able to own a real one.
Still need to do the measurements to see if the BL5000 version(22" vs 20" lift height) along with a couple stacked 2x8 would be sufficient to do an engine drop on the 996. That would make it more justifiable for me.
One of the biggest reason would be portability between choosing either. I like them both but I like the fact that I can share the quicklift between friends and transport it easily if I need to(ie, auto-x, track days, friends places, etc).
And you can use the mid-rise scissor lift to drop the motor with a slight modification to the rear crossmember of the lift. This is popular and have been done by a lot of 993 guys already.
Yea, it's hard to beat the portability of the quicklift. I saw the mod on the mid-rise but not sure that was a good idea as the crossmember is there for a reason. I guess maybe our cars are still way within the lift's capacity so people could get away with that mod.
From my memory though, the quicklist's ramps may not be long enough to reach our jacking points so you may want to verify the dimensions carefully.
Most likely you will need to drive on some 2x4's to get enough clearance to get your jack under the bar. The bar itself looks quite sturdy and well made.
Why not just get some ESCO jackstands?
Have used these on my 928 for over a year and they work great. One of the quickest ways to get the car in the air as you simply put Jack in middle of bar and lift. Just had them under the 996 as I was swapping wheels. It works great but you will need a low profile jack to get bar and jack under car.
Hard to see the bar but the bars have a rounded area right next to lift points that allow jackstands to fit very well in cradles. I have 3 ton and 6 ton stands so can get the car about 22 inches in air.
Would definitely recommend for anyone without a lift.
That's what I'm gonna be doing but I realize not everyone has resources to do this themselves.
