Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
The war photo journalist (Korea and Viet Nam) David Douglas Duncan bought a 300SL Gullwing in 1960 and immediately did a bonzi run from the south of France, up to Norway and back.
Leading evidence: 'Run from the south of france, up' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run from the south of france, up' (1 discussions). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So after selling my 996.1 aero in hopes to purchase an air cooled 911 (sc, or 3.2). I finally gave up the hunt. They have gone up in price in such a way that it made less sense to purchase an older car with less performance and a weaker ac for twice the price. I love all 911's don't get me wrong but maybe I'm just to poor now to get into a decent aircooled 911 again. Anyways here is my 2003 996.2 with 112k miles with a few modifications that make the car that much sweeter to me.
Can you post some more pictures of the front? And a close up of the headlights if possible? Is that some type of film layed on the headlights or tint spray to make it look more like the 997 headlights?
I'm not a big fan of my omlettes on my 996.1, and looking for other options.
Mine is a tint, but here is a picture of how it would look on a 996.1 headlight like the ones on your car. It is possible to tint them or paint them the body color of your car or even buy covers but the covers don't really do it for me. And note it works best on black cars.
Sounds (sounded) awesome under hard acceleration anywhere above about 4500rpm. Not overly loud, but an addictive sound
Engine gave out last month (still to get the diagnosis) but it's in the shop now for a replacement. Only 65000 kilometers with LNE IMS bearing 2 years ago. Will be interesting to find out what failed but the important thing is getting it back on the road. Hoping for this week!
Have to admit I thought of doing just that. Even advertised it on CL the day the engine went. But then I came to my senses - just can't imagine not having that 996 experience every day. It has been tough the past 6 weeks without it, but I talked to my mechanic today and he said it will be ready next week!
Really great cars are keepers. They are never perfect and they don't have to be the fastest or the coolest or the latest whatever...they don't need that because they have a character that is timeless.
The war photo journalist (Korea and Viet Nam) David Douglas Duncan bought a 300SL Gullwing in 1960 and immediately did a bonzi run from the south of France, up to Norway and back. He loved it and drove right up until he couldn't drive it anymore (he must be almost 100 now). He gave it to the son of one of his closest friends. Claude Picasso has been the owner ever since.
The science of automobile manufacturing has changed a lot since the 300SL...but the gestalt of what makes a great car has not. I equate the 996 (and not the 964 or 993 or 997 or 991) with the original 300SL gullwing based on only one thing...what it feels like to slide into the drivers seat, start the engine and slip through the gears as the car begins to accelerate and build up more and more speed and then lay siege to the road.
The 997 is too civilized. The 993 is too small. The 964 is to underdeveloped. And the 991 is too...fat...and that's the truth. But the 996 is a perfect balance of a gentleman who knows how and when not to be one.
