My instinct tells me this is safe to drive for a few days (it's not puking fluid, just a few drops after extended drives) but I would appreciate a gut check from you folks.

I topped it off with Redline gear oil I had in the garage...took about 1/3 of a liter before I started spilling out the fill hole.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

PWA6hcp.jpg 3Zfq0Mc.jpg Uuy7LMN.jpg Started noticing fluid on the ground after the car was sitting and it's started to pick up a bit. Finally had some time today to get it up on ramps and peer around. Fluid is a little smelly which to me indicates gear oil. Gracias, Dave '00 C2 tip daily driver

POST 2Original post

Most likely. But be sure a tranny selector shaft seal is not leaking and the fluid is running down (or back) from this leak to where you see the wetness. Don't want to let this go too long regardless of its source. If the tranny/diff gets low on fluid worse things can happen.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you. Shop can't get me for the next few days and this is my DD. I topped it off with Redline gear oil I had in the garage...took about 1/3 of a liter before I started spilling out the fill hole. I went slowly as I understand that there might be a baffle in there. My instinct tells me this is safe to drive for a few days (it's not puking fluid, just a few drops after extended drives) but I would appreciate a gut check from you folks. Dave
