Suggestion

My advice is to remove the passenger seat and mock up the size of the sub using cardboard to determine what will fit and still allow for seat adjustments and travel.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Let me start with I had thought I'd seen a post in the last few weeks which mentioned fitting a sub-woofer under the Passenger Seat. But I cannot come up with it currently, so . . . I am considering placing an "Active" Sub under the passenger seat. I recently had a Kenwood DNX997XR installed in my Cab. All Speakers replaced, Amp replaced, & a backup camera installed. I love the Kenwood and it sounds fantastic, clear, etc., but I would like more base. So I've done some shopping and have come up with a few choices actually. Kicker 46HS10 Active Subwoofer 180 amp Dimensions: 14.5 x 9.875 x 3.375 Rockville USS10 10" 800w Slim Under-Seat Powered Car Subwoofer Sub+Amp Kit Dimensions: 15 x 10.89 x 2.9 Rockville USS8 8" 600w Slim Under-Seat Powered Car Subwoofer Sub+Amp Kit Dimensions: 13.6 x 9.9 x 2.9 So the question is whether the 10" will fit, or do I need to go with the 8"? What are the dimensions of the area beneath the passenger seat? Of course I can perform some measurements myself, but I don't wish to physically dig into the project yet (as in I don't wanna pull the seat until I have to do the job). Only at Step 1: Perform Research First, for now. I also suspect I DID see some post somewhere regarding Subs under the seat, but can't find it. So maybe someone else here has "been there, done that" already? Thanks for the help in advance. Jamie

POST 2Original post

Does your new amp have a sub channel on it? I am assuming not since you are looking at a powered sub for under the seat. My advice is to remove the passenger seat and mock up the size of the sub using cardboard to determine what will fit and still allow for seat adjustments and travel. Removing the seat is not a difficult job (4 bolts and unplug the wiring harness) and knowing what size sub to order in advance can avoid a lot of hassle later.
