Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a catless x-pipe on my car and I am thinking of installing an exhaust baffle insert where the x-pipe mates to the headers. Will this mess up any readings or performance of the pre-cat O2 sensor since the baffle would be installed before that sensor? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I don't believe that will have any affect on O2 sensor readings . You are adding a small restriction nothing else . Is there a reason you don't want to install on the exit side of the x-pipe ? Are you trying to control noise or resonance ?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am also going to try it on the exit side of the exit pipe. I am trying to add back a little back pressure to see if I can fix the dip in the low end torque that the catless x pipe creates. I figured a baffle insert right after the header would do a better job adding back pressure to the system.

POST 6Original post

I wouldn't add anything that changes the airflow before the pre-cat O2 sensor. If there's any way that it can change the reading at the O2 sensor, it could be bad for your engine. The DME needs this O2 sensor to work 100% in order to get fueling correct. Obstructing/changing the airflow behind the pre-cat O2 sensor is less of a concern.

POST 7Original post

Have you found a source for stainless steel inserts ? Car Chemistry as an example are conventional steel . If you are going to tack weld them in I would want SS .

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No I haven't found any stainless options. I've been looking at the CC inserts or the Header Collector Muffler Inserts from Schoenfeld as options. I don't want to weld them in though, I'd like to find a way to "wedge" them into the pipes so that I can easily take them out if I don't like the results. I'm mainly looking to play around with the inserts and their locations to see if I can get just a slight increase in backpressure for street driving.
