Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi there --
I dropped off my 2003 996 C2 convertible at Porsche Vancouver, and upon picking it up noticed, aside from the small dent, that the latch on the convertible top is acting strange.
When I close the top, it closes completely, but then begins unlatches and relatches over and over if I hold the 'close roof' button. I can time it so it is closed, but pretty annoying.
Is it possible anything they did would have done which could have caused this? They also inspected the airbag (light was on) and didn't repair as the parts had to be ordered.
The service manager is out of town and my service guy is apparently powerless to do anything.
take your car back to the servicing dealer.
EDIT: BEFORE you left the shop, you said you noticed a small dent and top was acting strange-did you point it out BEFORE you left?
You should not have to make repairs to your car after taking it in for repair. Small dent? Sounds like you need to go tear some *** up at the dealership.
All wrong. Its not completing its cycle. The last thing in the cycle are the windows closing. You never mentioned that part in your posting. If it was completing its cycle BEFORE, then take it back and demand they fix it and the dent as well. Where is the dent? A tip.. Always make sure the car is on level-ish ground when operating the top. No wheel on the kerb. That position can make the hook refuse to lock in. You can let go of the button when the top is half way closing and inspect the hook. If any part of the plastic cover is missing, that also can make the hook refuse to lock in to complete the cycle of the windows coming up. Also make sure the light cluster where the hook receiver is, is fully tightened down. If not, that too can cause the hook to refuse time and again, to hook in. These tops are a Royal PITA when they are not working as they should do. Ask me how I know. Mine is working correctly now but for how long, God alone only knows.
As Hurdi mentions the hook has a plastic cover. This cover can be break/get knocked off. If that happens the hook does not reach far enough to activate the micro-switch in the header latch socket. (you can activate it with your finger.)
The plastic piece can be purchased and replaced. Most folks just slit the ends of the eyelets, small drawing, that enables you to slip the replacement part on with out having to disassemble the whole mechanism or just cut and glue the end piece on, big picture.
