Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I installed my motor mounts I don't remember removing any hoses.
Leading evidence: 'Install motor mounts i don't remember removing any hoses' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'synchro or other transmission issue' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install motor mounts i don't remember removing any hoses' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
I would start with changing transmission fluid, if that doesn't help likely a synchro or other transmission issue.

I also didn't notice the profound change some folks talk about, but my old mounts were definitely stretched.

Suggestion
You may want to try changing transmission fluid first, that may solve your notchy shifting issue.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I ultimately had my transmission torn down and dealer fixed the issue (under CPO warranty - after taking it to 4 different dealers).
Looking at what I need to do to change the motor mounts. Notchy getting into gear, etc.
Looks like I have to remove the emissions hose at one point to get to drivers side motor mount. It says on pelican to use channel locks to undo the hose clamp. I do not have a hose clamp on that hose. Looking at the hose, don't see any reason to believe there has ever been in on it. Car only has 21,000 miles.
Can any of you look into your engine bay and see if yours has the clamp on that hose?
Thanks!
IIRC, my 2004 didn't have a clamp on the air pump hose either, also a virgin engine compartment when I did the motor mounts.
When I reinstalled, I put on a low-torque wingnut style hose clamp just in case...
When I installed my motor mounts I don't remember removing any hoses. Had to remove some kind of pump on the driver side (don't remember what exactly), but that was all.
Also, at 21k miles, it would be surprising if your motor mounts were problematic. You may want to try changing transmission fluid first, that may solve your notchy shifting issue. I changed my motor mounts at 40k miles just for fun and it made no difference at all. Even though I really wanted it to...
No and no. Job is very easy... I put my car on jackstands, but others say you can do the job without even raising it.
That's the air pump. The Pelican article has you remove it completely, disconnnecting the hose and wiring. You can also just unbolt it and work around it... It's trivial to remove the air hose and electrical connector, but you don't need to. six vs half-dozen.
I also didn't notice the profound change some folks talk about, but my old mounts were definitely stretched. Not my picture, but this is about the same difference between my old mounts and new..
I would start with changing transmission fluid, if that doesn't help likely a synchro or other transmission issue. Is it notchy from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to third? I ultimately had my transmission torn down and dealer fixed the issue (under CPO warranty - after taking it to 4 different dealers). If you are not under warranty check out GBOX in Boulder -- you can ship the transmission to them for a rebuild.
When I did my mounts on the 04 C2 I didn't need to remove the pump, just removed two bolts and loosened a nut and the pump could be swiveled out of the way. I do not have clamps on the hose.
Very simple job for me as I didn't have any frozen fasteners. Made a world of difference in the car in many ways.
