I had the suspension checked when I had new tires installed, and it checked out great. Rennlist searches didn't help.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since getting my 04 C4S about 10 months ago, I've had a rattle that comes and goes typically over bumps at lower speeds. I had the suspension checked when I had new tires installed, and it checked out great. Rennlist searches didn't help. I've had the car up on stands and grabbed everything I could get my hands on, but nothing was in the least bit loose. Finally think I found it this weekend. The rear headliner frames seems to have been vibrating against the bottom on the rear window, making a tapping sound. Not sure if the headliner was removed/replaced at some point in the car's past, but i wedged some foam weather stripping between the frame and the window to dampen any vibration, and the problem seems to be solved. Something to check for if you have a mysterious rattle. Bill

POST 2Original post

Happend to me as well. There are clips that are supposed to hold the headliner in place. Porsche want a fortune to remove and fix the headliner. If you can fix with stuffing foam between, just do it.

POST 3Original post

Hmmm, wonder if that's the "ticking" sound I hear coming from the back seat area??

No, the ticking sound you hear is the IMSB getting ready to explode

I was under the impression that they simply exploded with no indicators at all!
