Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just wanted to say hello. Long time rennlist follower was just missing a Porsche. Picked up a really clean 03 C4s. Its my first Porsche after having many other performance cars. Ive owned it for a few months and I already see that I will always have a Porsche in the garage from now on! Looking forward to any Chicago area meets/drives.

POST 2Original post

Nice! Love the wheels. I forgot what the name of that shade of gray is. Welcome.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! It was originally Silver, I just had it wrapped in Avery Gloss Dark Grey. I wanted it to look like the old Slate Grey

POST 4Original post

Wow, wrap and car look great...I am in the same boat. I will always have a Porsche 911 in my garage, always.

POST 6Original post

What is happening with all these C4S cars showing up in Chicago? And how have I not found one yet!?

POST 7Original post

Welcome to the fold... Join the PCA Chicago Region, you will be very happy with it http://pca-chicago.org/cms/

POST 8Original post

That is a great color, similar to Audis new grey, well done sir! Welcome!

I searched for MONTHS... did a few PPI inspections on cars in texas, california, ohio... This one popped up 10 miles from my house when I almost decided that I would be done searching!

POST 10Original post

Here is my "new to me" 04 Cab C4S - I took it out yesterday afternoon and burned up 1/2 tank of gas running up and down rte 294 (Chicago area). What a blast I had. Came home - washed her - put her sweater on (AKA a car cover) and put her to bed for the winter - gunna get cold (10f) here in the midwest for the next 3-4 weeks...

POST 11Original post

Welcome! Looks great. It doesn't take long to figure out that Porsches are special, does it?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the compliments on the color. I just had it finished last night so its good to see I didnt make a mistake! haha! The owner of The Vinyl Loft here in Chicago set up professional pictures for my car, he loves the color and wants to put it on his website so ill be posting some professional pictures soon, be on the lookout! If anyone is in the Chicago area and wants Vinyl work done I highly suggest this place. He does a lot of exotics and show cars yet hes very reasonable. I started with the original silver color, then found my inspiration (Steve McQueens car), then I wrapped a model 997 GT3 model in the Wrap that I thought resembled what I was going for, and finally bit the bullet and had it wrapped.

Beautiful! I'm in the Oakbrook area. I hope to see you on 294 sometime! Stay warm this week!

POST 14Original post

Welcome! Color looks awesome! My first thought was "Slate Grey" so looks like you did a good thing. May you continue to love the 4S.

POST 15Original post

Moto: "running up and down 294..." you must have been out there during non-rush time with a pocket full of quarters or an EZ-pass! (former Bolingbrook resident)

POST 16Original post

First wrapped car I actually like. They did a great job and that grey translates very well. Congrats on the car, and wrap.

That's gorgeous. I'm biased because that car is identical to my C2. Love the hardtop in the winter and the soft top the other 3 seasons. Mine's an "01 and it still looks fresh and new. Too bad I don't have it when I'm in Chicago

POST 18Original post

The car looks great, excellent gray color for the wrap. Do you mind if I ask what the wrap cost?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12912681

It's about $2k for a wrap. I bought my own material so I can't tell you exactly how much they would've charged me if I just left the car with them and didn't buy it myself.

POST 20Original post

Ah, ok, thx. Looks like you did a great wrap job.

Thanks! Professional shoot is tomorrow but I managed to snap a daytime pic amidst all the rain/snow/sleet!

POST 23Original post

Welcome and congrats on a color choice. You really nailed it!

POST 24Original post

reminds me of the 50th anniversary Graphite Gray which is clearly stunning...

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Photoshoot preview. It'll be about a week before they're finished.

POST 26Original post

Love it. As said above it's the first wrap job that I actually like. So tired of seeing flat black.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im just too excited to get these pictures! I love how different it looks depending on the light! There was also a lime green gallardo performante there... perhaps stole the show a bit..

POST 28Original post

As a autobody painter for the past 20 years I love that color of your Porsche. Trust me I can match that color of wrap but I cannot match the price. It would be at a minimum twice that price for it to last the rest of your ownership of that car. The reason I say that is because I know the wrap only lasts about two years, my paint job will last you the rest of your ownership of that car (plus). Hence the lifetime warrantee where I work . The wrap cost is about $2000.00? Yes or no? Trust me I'm still learning and willing to learn. Because "wrapping" a car might replace me someday LOL.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12922470

Yea you're right, just about $2k. I've been researching wraps for a long time... Years in fact... The new quality wraps have 5-10 year warranties if kept on a daily driven vehicle. Since my car will not be out in super harsh conditions it can (hopefully) last for a 5-7 years. The main reason I did get the wrap is to do something different that would be reversible. The original silver on my car is/was/and will be in pristine shape. The way I see it for the cost of one great paint job I can wrap my car 2-3 times 20-30 years worth and I can always go back to the original (which should, theoretically, remain in decent condition). A great paint job will undoubtedly look way better but I would also be way more paranoid about keeping it good shape and it wouldn't be easily reversible! Thanks for the compliments on the color, I love it!!

POST 31Original post

Congratulations! Really loving that color and the wrap looks great. If you ever need anything be sure to let me know.

POST 32Original post

Blk911 - Post #19 said the the $2000 was only for the wrapping labor - (" It's about $2k for a wrap. I bought my own material ") I too think that the color looks great !!!

POST 33Original post

Amazing! I was in the market for a wrap but I couldn't decide if I wanted to follow through with it. This color or similar was on the top of my list after seeing it on a GT3 I believe. Just didn't know how it would look on my C4S. Glad you posted and now I can see how it would look! I was growing tired of the black on mine. Too hard to keep it perfect and every rock chip shows up.
