Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
What would running 295 in the back on a rim that needs a 305 confuse?

Suggestion
I needed spacers to run 997TT wheels on my 996TT because the inner tire rubbed.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Well have had the 996 C4S a week now and getting on the slippery slope. I need to get some spacers for the rear for the Sport Techno rims on it. So I thought I would investigate 19" rims. Found some BBS and some 997 Turbo rims. These would all need spacers and have 305/30's on the rear. 1010tires show 285's for the rear and Tirerack shows 295's. According to the 1010tire calculator the 305's are close to 5% larger in circumference. I am concerned about confusing the PSM and/or ABS boxes so, what size are you running?
What would running 295 in the back on a rim that needs a 305 confuse? I'm considering purchasing one with the above setup in back and hate how it looks.
What's the end goal, a tire/rim that sits flush with body panel or an aggressive stance that needs rolled fenders? Is this a daily driver or tracker?
My tire combo below fits a street need.
I run 235/35 r19 on front and
285/30 r 19 rear.
Weekend, good weather toy. Want to get the rear wheels out closer to flush with the fenders. It is my understanding that later year 996s had the fenders rolled at the factory. Size wise, I am finding 305's in the rear, but the tire vendor sites are listing 285s or 295s in the back. As I wrote, 305/30/19s are about 5% larger in circumference and I do not want to cause problems for the car's smart boxes.
Trigger is pulled, Found a set of 997TT wheels that were on a 2003 996TT. 51 in the front & 48 in the back. Should not need spacers at all. Rears are 305's so I will wait and see once they get here and I get them on. I am sliding down the slope way too fast, LOL.
I needed spacers to run 997TT wheels on my 996TT because the inner tire rubbed. I went with 15mm spacers all the way around.
Also, I have 2WD conversion parts if that's an option for you, then you can run any tire you desire.

I know a lot of people say wrong size and what not... but I have 230,000 km on my car with those sizes
White out,
Nice ride! That has the body package that a TT Cab in Houston did. I was sorely tempted but than after some serious thought I went to a 2004 C4S. You do not have any issues with the tires hitting the fender lip? I was hopeing that with the 51/48 offsets I could avoid using spacers. Are your rims painted or powdercoated?
Running the numbers on willtheyfit.com show the 19's I am getting run ~4.7% larger or about 1.5 mph at 30 and 2.5 mph at 60. I can live with that. At least the difference is close to the same front and rear.
I had 315/25 19 on 11.5 wheels, at one time. fit fine, but I dont know about the offset and 11" width difference using a 997 wheel. The wheel offsets and width have to be figured togather before you can decide to use a wheel. Of course somebody has already put 997 wheels on a 996. The tire size is dependent on the wheel width. The aspect ratio is dependent on -if it will fit in the fender or not.
Plus lower row springs
No issues with the tire touching the fender. The wheels are plasti-dipped.
My car was lowered on coilovers for those pictures, there will be much more clearance on a stock ride height or slightly lowered car.
I may have to look into if anyone in my area does this coating. Have to think about it with a black body it may be too much black if the rims are done. Thanks for the info.
