Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I tried to get camshaft deviation values for my 99 carrera and it looks like the icarsoft scanner has two variables it can read. Camshaft position 1 deviation and camshaft position 2 deviation. For camshaft position 1 deviation I am getting -3 CRK and it stays there. For camshaft position 2 however it keeps going higher and higher, over 1k if I keep logging it long enough. I am not sure if this is reading the correct value in this case. Has anyone else tried getting camshaft deviation values with an iCarsoft reader?

POST 2Original post

I haven't used carsoft, however, do a search on this subject to verify but I believe some early gen 1 996 only have one hall sender (on bank 1). I'm guessing that is why you are getting a bad reading on the second position.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I looked into it and I believe you are right. Appears that 1999 911s only have a sensor for bank 1. If anyone else could corroborate that, it would be helpful.

The ROW (Rest of World) engines only have one cam sensor. All US and Canada engines have fast start and have a cam sensor on both banks. If the car has an ROW ECU tune, (or if a performance file was based from an ROW) you will not see any data for bank 2. It sounds like you do have a B2 sensor and you are getting an erroneous reading from it, likely due to a wiring issue, or perhaps a mechanical issue that is sending the values out of range.

POST 5Original post

Im actually using iCarsoft CR Pro in an effort to read cam deviation values from a 2000 Porsche Boxster. Unfortunately, Im only able to read the cam position deviation angle position 1 value and and the cam deviation value position 1. Incidentally, I received the following value for the deviation: Cam deviation value position 1 = 1019.75 CRK. Also, this value does not deviate one iota from that value while idling.

exactly the same for me for a 2001 S ..same value and it stays there..
