Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

PIWIS I is the best to use with the pre-2011 Porsches, e.g.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
Ive been looking into the cam deviation differences between the 5-chain and 3-chain 996 models and would appreciate some insights. Specifically, how much cam deviation is considered normal or acceptable for both the 5-chain and 3-chain engine configurations. 6 degrees on both? Is there a notable difference in behavior or expected deviation between the two?
Additionally, how often should we be checking for cam deviation on each type? Does one configuration tend to show wear or issues earlier than the other?
I am also posting a pic from my current cam deviation via PIWIS3 to help others getting the correct values selected:
Thanks,
George
+- 6* is the only spec I have ever seen from Porsche...
Yes the 5 chain engines will wear the bank 1 cam pads fairly quickly due to the original pads were not as robust as the replacement ( revised) pads and the bank 1 is working against chain rotation to activate and bank 2 the chain rotation helps the actuator activate
BTW : is that a Chinese Clone PIWIS 3 ? Did you get the full deal or piece it together ?

@systemsc
I agree the PIWIS 1 has many more indepth functions for 996 like instrument cluster gauge activation where you can activate individual gauges and see if the pointers are properly positioned and many more funtions that was left out of PIWIS 2 up...
But Porsche killed all the PIWIS 1's with the latest update that had a "30 day time release deactiavtion bomb" in them..Some tech geek figured out how to revive them but Posche sicked the Lawyers on him with a cease-and-desist warning... I don't know how all the Chinese Clones are not being hit my the Lawyers, maybe the PIWIS 2 and PIWIS 3 didn't have the exact software protection...IDK..
I just recently tried to buy a new Genuine PIWIS 1 from this place .
https://m2kinc.com/product/piwis/
that show it on the website, but is no longer availible... They tried to sell me a new PIWIS 4 for $20k...lol
PIWIS 4 is the latest greatest, but the PIWIS 1 actually works best and has more functions on the 996......but PIWIS 2 and 3 are the easiest to find...
