Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is a fresh Nikasil plated cylinder. The engineering company says those scratches are common marks when honing Nikasil plating and I'm good to go with the build. Is this really the case? I can easily catch those with finger. I wouldn't mind "a second opinion" before going forward with this build. Having those just under the piston ring travel path is a bit concerning. And especially when the idea was to fix bore scoring Bank 2: Bank 1:

POST 3Original post

OP - Wtf! Send that pic to LN for their opinion. Smooth as a baby bottom or not good at all, in my opinion. I dont see any scratches here.

POST 4Original post

You are from Finland? Which engineering company would that be? There is only one guess.

Who did that hone job...? Looks like they pulled the hone head after power was turning off to make those marks. Nik cylinders require a diamond hone job to finish them to the proper rms finish to seat rings correctly. The cross hatch in your cylinders don't look like any I've ever received from Millennium Technology or US Chrome, the 2 big nik guys in USA. But in pics its hard to tell for my olds eyes, but you say you can catch your finger nail in the cross hatch..? Thats not correct at all....

Yes, well... maybe two - one on each side of that pond... Surprise surprise - well, not necessarily since the customer service is top notch. Those scratches will be corrected.

POST 9Original post

This was also posted on Facebook last night, Jake Raby has him sending it back to L&N Engineering to be fix.

POST 10Original post

I work on Ferrari 355s too and they also have nikkies liners. The factory recommendation is "If you can feel it with your fingernail, the liner must be replaced."
