I have used an airbrush and played around with the air volume to agitate the metallic particles to match the paint, add various amounts of reducer to match, and back-tape the edges.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any advice on touching up edge scratches like this?

POST 2Original post

Black touch-up paint honestly, this isn't supposed to be a wear area of the car. You can always cover over the touched-up area afterwards with a strip of PPF to make it look somewhat factory.

POST 3Original post

I bought a 'Painting Pen' that was recommended in this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...endations.html Painting Pen Painting Pen

POST 4Original post

Use a small brush and dab some base color on the area first then dab some clear on it to build it up. You want it to be above the surrounding surface when sand it smooth with p1000-1500 then p3000 for the finish. Use a buffer to bring back the shine. By the look of the surrounding paint it needs a sanding and buff. I've done this several times on mine.

POST 5Original post

Easy to get a good touch-up with non-metallic (overfill and sand), but not with metallic paint in my experience. Metallic is pretty hard to touch up invisibly -- unless someone has a secret they aren't sharing!

POST 6Original post

This is a very good how to of the advice in the comment above. Ive been planning to try this on my other car which has more damage than yours. Im sure disaster could strikelots of care needed sanding edges. You Tube

POST 8Original post

What are good sources for matching paints, especially the metallics which may be difficult? Can you expect a dedicated automotive paint supplier to be able to mix them accurately or do you need a specialized Porsche type aftermarket or dealer match?

POST 9Original post

I have used an airbrush and played around with the air volume to agitate the metallic particles to match the paint, add various amounts of reducer to match, and back-tape the edges. The really hard part is blending a serious chip, and then it is all up to doing a wicked pain dance trying to match. Frustrating endeavor.
