Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Happy that I got rid of CELs but two days after oil was changed I noticed a strange ticking sound from the engine.

Then I crawled under the car to check IMS and there were no strange noises

Hope that's AC bearing, should I also check the power steering pump somehow?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello Porsche enthusiasts!
As it is my first post here at Rennlist, I would like to introduce myself briefly. A new owner of not perfect 996 doing everything to bring its charm back. My dream car has some challenges to face with, small sign of leak between gearbox and engine (hope it's RMS), couple of CELs regarding misfire on 4th cylinder and P1128 together with P1130. As this car was not driven for a year I started with cleaning up the MAF, replacing coil, replacing air filter, cabin filter, oil and oil filter. Happy that I got rid of CELs but two days after oil was changed I noticed a strange ticking sound from the engine. I have tried to compare it with lifter, cylinder stroke or IMS sounds but none of these sounds sound the same.
Could you please help me to figure it out what it is? Are you familiar with this kind of noise?
Is it something that I should worry about? How severe is it?
It's 996 Carrera 4 from 2001 with 44k miles on filled with Mobil 1 5w50.

Thank you!
Thanks Ahsai for your reply!
As this sound is nothing to worry, there is another one which scares me a little it has happend today.
Does IMS bearing end or is it AC compressor bearing?
Video attached
Grinding sound
Sounds like an exhaust leak but it's hard to be sure.
I'd pull the belt and grab every pully and feel for any slop.
Did you drop and inspect your sump, cut open filter?
Thanks for advice, belt dropped down and accessories checked.
It seems that there is something wrong with AC compressor bearing, you can easily push and pull it. It sounds badly as well.
Video showing accessories check attached below

Then I put the belt back on and noticed that sound goes louder when AC is on.

AC compressor bearing failure?
When the sound went louder I touched the power steering pump and felt quite heavy vibrations, stronger then felt on AC compressor. Is it possible that AC bearing impacts so much on power steering pump?
While reving up noise dissapears it is only on idle.
Then I crawled under the car to check IMS and there were no strange noises
Regarding oil thing, I didn't have a chance to check sump, but I cut and opened the oil filter and it was clean, there were no bits of anything.
Hope that's AC bearing, should I also check the power steering pump somehow?
Thank you for all your inputs, advices and help
If you need a new AC compressor go to Rockauto.com and get the Denso compressor. It is the exact same compressor that Porsche sells for about $1,800 and Rockauto has it for $265. I replaced mine a couple of years ago and the one I got from Rockauto was exactly the same Denso that was on the car from the factory. They also have receiver/dryers, expansion valves, o rIng kits, etc.
I bought my first Porsche in 1973, a 1967 911. I have had three air cooled 911s, two 928s, one 996. Also an Alfa Romero, many Fords, Chevys, Nissans, Dodges, a Kawasaki, several Harleys and numerous other bikes. I dont think I have ever had an engine that did not have internal noises, ticks, etc., particularly after a few miles. The engines are mechanical devices, the make noise. Just saying😜
Not just any noise. A noise that sounds like a failing non-plain bearing. Turns out, it IS an external bearing (thank heavens to the OP). If it were the IMSB, it is advised to not run the engine even for a couple of seconds.
Looks are deceiving. Did you play the video? The still image shows the labeling on the belt, not the grooves...
Have to admit. I thought the same thing at first look.
To be honest, when I saw the thumbnail at first time I told myself if I really did it? Did I put the belt upside down? Wtf??
Meanwhile, I got a new bearing and now I need to find bigger seger pliers as mine are too short.
Will keep you updated
Again, thanks for advice about shop and having fingers crossed regarding IMSB
