Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I don't want to impact performance or start replacing tires every 5000 miles.

I also want to run the appropriate tires for performance driving, not some razor thin sidewall.

It seems the safe bet is to go 8.5 on the front and 10 on the back and then use spacers if fitment isnt perfect for my preference
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just picked up an 03 996 Carrera and it will need new tires soon, so I'm going to get new rims at the same time. It currently has the 17" 10-spokes on it - 7" in the front and 9" in the back - and I'd like to go to 18's. I just can't get a straight answer online about what max size will fit in the back. I understand that 10" will fit but will 11"? I want the tires flush with the wheel wells but not sticking out at all. I also want to run the appropriate tires for performance driving, not some razor thin sidewall. I don't want to impact performance or start replacing tires every 5000 miles.
What is the max size I should consider for the back if my goal is to be flush? Is there a reason to stick with 10" as a max width? Seems like a common staggered size is 8" front and 10" rear. Does 10" rear still require spacers? Any tire nerds on here that can tell me the optimal setup for vehicle and tire performance? Appreciate the help.
Oh, grasshopper, there is no exact answer to this question. Search and you will find many have gone before you. Answers are shifting and elusive. The universe is analog. Enjoy your journey.
Ok I guess thats the answer. I have searched and thats exactly what Ive found. But when ordering a $3k set of rims online you have to have some idea of fitment. Ive tried some of the fitment calculators as well.
Ive put in the research but am still lost. It seems the safe bet is to go 8.5 on the front and 10 on the back and then use spacers if fitment isnt perfect for my preference
sorry forgot about your recent post. Your car is exactly the fitment I want. So 11s will fit with ET60. Very helpful and thats what Ill look for. I like the Apex wheels so its a debate between them or a OEM rim
