Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace oil pressure switch about 4 years ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check with oil pressure gauge in the same port' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
If you suspect low oil pressure, remove the oil pressure sensor and check with oil pressure gauge in the same port for actual pressure.

since the bore scoring and IMS i have reduced the Oil change interval to every 8KM ( 5k miles)

Suggestion
Change the oil at least 2x a year, right before winter and in the spring.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys
i have a 996.2 and when gets hot in traffic the oli pressure drops to .5 bar
there is only 4.5k on the oil 0x40 Mobil one and its still a golden colour
i changed the oil pressure switch about 4 years ago ..
would it be this again or anyone have any other ideas what is causing this
Thanks

The factory oil pressure gauge is only good for detecting a change in behaviour..........
When did this behaviour start ?? Have you done any UOA's on the engine??
Like JohnCA58 says, when this is doubt, install a manual analog "real" oil pressure gauge in the circuit and test....
If I have the ac system off on a mildly warm day , it will drop down and beep when exiting a highway and coming to a stop at idle. With the ac on, idle always stays high enough to maintain 1 to 1.5 bar.
i always minded the car and serviced it at 10K miles Mobil one 0x40
since the bore scoring and IMS i have reduced the Oil change interval to every 8KM ( 5k miles)
there is not really a lot more i can do ..
You are in a good position with a new engine. Sure there is alot you can still do.
1. Change the oil at least 2x a year, right before winter and in the spring. Engine love fresh oil.
2. Make sure you have a dependable imsb in there.
3. Eliminate the oem AOS and get the UAOS track version so you can run full oil. Engine loves full oil.
4. Test your oil to see what's in there and monitor.
5. Drop your sump every year or two to see what's in there and make sure nothing is jamming it up.
6. Run good fuel and perform the proper start up procedures on the car.
7. Make sure you are running relatively fresh coils, plugs and MAF.
And then drive the hell out of it and enjoy!
I would test oil pressure with another gauge. And then consider switching to 5/50 Porsche approved oil if theres nothing you can do that changes the pressure.
I also agree that no AC button and very hot engine (standing traffic for a long time) can result in 0.5bar or 0.75bar less pressure than a slightly cooler engine with the AC button depressed. One is viscosity related and the other is engine speed related.
