Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used a little voltmeter display from Amazon and built that outrigger thing to hold it.
Leading evidence: 'Use little voltmeter display' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'gauge' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean lines of the console delete' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
Most likely a gauge that is suction cupped to the windshield that is removable when not tracking.

While I really dig the clean lines of the console delete, that console is quite functional.

Jason, any idea if the AIM Solo 2 allows you to run oil temp on the screen as well track time?

Looks like the AIM MXM allows you to run oil temp (4 analog data points).

Suggestion
The Ashai design uses an arduino microcontroller module obtained from Amazon with software written by Ashai and some external circuitry to do the same thing, that is read oil temp and convert it to a voltage, and is well documented.

Suggestion
You may be able to adapt the Ashai design which already has the proper calibration curves for the M96 oil temp sensor and all of the software pre-written, and use a tiny voltmeter like I have used.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ive been wanting to do the gt3 center console delete since even before I got my car.
I have a digital oil temp gauge that I think I would like to keep. Doesnt quite fit with the style of the car but I like the idea of knowing the oil temperatureeven though its a source of stress when you watch the temps climb
any ideas on what I can do? I was hoping to find a small pod like device to maybe mount under the dash. Should I just get rid of it entirely?
I also generally keep two phones in the center pocket. While I really dig the clean lines of the console delete, that console is quite functional. Quite the dilemma.
I am with you. Been trying to figure out where to put one and which one to use. I want to be able to see it on the track with just a quick glance without dropping my eyes or having to locate it.
3D print a holder to go in place of one of the air vents.
As an aside, that display is a tad much, get a gauge - it will do the same thing and be more aesthetically pleasing.
the thought did cross my mind. It has an arduino board powering the display. It may be a bit of a task to try and convert to an analog gauge though.
I guess the more important question is the gauge even necessary?
That may be the option. Don't need to glance at it until the last 3rd of the session to judge temps. Doesn't even have to be permanent as long as I can safely attach it for the session and then detach it.
Jason, any idea if the AIM Solo 2 allows you to run oil temp on the screen as well track time? It's small enough to Velcro to the steering column without obstructing the Oem gauges.
mine is tapped into the DME near the rear passenger side. No need to add a new sensor. The arduino takes the feed and coverts is to a digital display. Its been correlated with durametric values.
Charlie, that sounds like a straightforward set-up.
Where else are you considering putting the gauge? Unfortunately, it's not visible under the console when on the track. I would prefer it in my line of sight, small, simple and easy to read thru a very quick glance. Preferably something that I can remove when not on the track. If I can find a small vertical one the height of an AIM Solo, I may just duck tape it to the side of my AIM Solo which I securely attach to the top of my steering column, and find a way to secure the wire to something to keep it out of the way. Not looking for anything pretty, just small and functional.
Also, In answer to your question if it's actually needed. It really isn't unless you are tracking the car. Water temps should tell enough of the story when driving around town.
Looks like the AIM MXM allows you to run oil temp (4 analog data points). 1300 dollars. Like to have one but may decide to spend the money on other items on the car, which leads me towards still needing an oil temp gauge. Still looking for the what and how. Most likely a gauge that is suction cupped to the windshield that is removable when not tracking.
This is my oil temp gauge: The little digital thing attached to the steering column trim. It's tapped into the DME oil temp sensor with an 8051 microcontroller reading the oil temp input and outputting a voltage proportional to temperature. 1.96V = 196 degrees. I used a little voltmeter display from Amazon and built that outrigger thing to hold it.
It is based on the design by Ashai described on this forum somewhere. The Ashai design uses an arduino microcontroller module obtained from Amazon with software written by Ashai and some external circuitry to do the same thing, that is read oil temp and convert it to a voltage, and is well documented. Because I do a lot of microcontroller design with 8051's I made one with a different microcontroller. The Turbo oil temp sensor is completely different from the M96 sensor, so I had to determine the calibration curves too. Because of that my work won't be of much use to you I am afraid. You may be able to adapt the Ashai design which already has the proper calibration curves for the M96 oil temp sensor and all of the software pre-written, and use a tiny voltmeter like I have used.
PRF, first of all thanks for the idea. I remember reading the thread. Its over my head but I will talk to my shop about it and I suspect they have done a few. It's the perfect size and location. 👍
