Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Did Ruf ever do a 996 car?? I think they offered a turbo but not a regular 996. I can't think of any other Porsche they never modified.

POST 2Original post

Here you go. Photographed at a PCA driving event in 2013.

POST 4Original post

I do like that retro powder blue color on black wheels.

POST 5Original post

They did! It was labeled RGT and was based off the GT3. Lots of goodies on the car including upgraded camshaft and exhaust; it hit about 380HP and had a top speed of 190MPH. It came in RWD but there was an option to AWD as well.

POST 6Original post

Here is a great video of one near me - Real Drivers: Ruf RGT Cabriolet - YouTube

POST 7Original post

Ruf did build a 996 turbo, its called a Ruf Rturbo

POST 8Original post

They offered both FI and NA version 996 including a m96 based supercharger version. Models offered were: RTurbo RGT-RS RGT RKompressor There's a member here that has a genuine yellow 996 RGT. He's posted in the pic threads a couple times.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was thinking if RUF every modified a regular 3.4 or 3.6 NA 996 motor. If so did they address some of the 996 early issues or have similar issues in there modified cars.

POST 10Original post

Ruf did have a boxster where they put the 911 3.4 and later 3.6 and called them 3400S and 3600S respectively. I'm not sure what, if any, parts of the engine internals have been modified. Here are some pics of mine.

Awesome car. GT 3 Motor. It would be interesting to know what modifications they did. I am sure RUF would have addressed some of the issues.

POST 12Original post

I agree, but they would have to have been able to first identify potential problem parts on a very new engine. On the rgt, they seems to have addressed some of the issues later discovered with the fuel pump and the rubber lines. Mine have all braided lines from factory. They however did not identify the coolant fittings issue from factory so I had that done last year as preventative maintenance. They also didn't realize the Porsche lsd would not hold up so i now have a guards.

No, they tried to partner with us back in 2007, we decided to build our own brand rather than coupling with them. The cars they built generally had engine conversions with larger stock engines. I have 3400S Boxster here now with a failed 3.4 engine. The car is very well built, but it had a factory reman 3.4 996 engine installed that made it 49K miles before failing under the original owner.

POST 14Original post

In 2007 was RUF still building boxsters with m96 engines? If they weren't, what were they looking for in a partnership with you?

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 11901333

The M97 is roughly the same power plant, different designation, some of the old problems and some new ones. They did not want to delve into the development of the engine internals, and thats what we do. I learned long ago that the one ship that will not float, is a partnership.

POST 16Original post

Wondering if there are any real RUF 996s for sale. Seams to be people keep them and rarely ever sell them. Ive seen a couple RGTs pop up on eBay but never a real Rturbo.

POST 17Original post

Save this link https://www.classicdriver.com/en/cars/ruf?make=219&search_type=advanced&page=1 There was a 996.1 RGT for sale when I bought my 996, it was orange x burgundy for $56k. The 996.2 RGTs run close to $100k if I recall correctly. There were around 27 996.1 RGTs sent to the US*, so they don't pop up all that often.

POST 18Original post

Man I looked at that 3400S for a few minutes and I think it's going to take me a few minutes more to stand out of my chair. My knees feel weak. I wonder what they're asking for it? I know... if you gotta ask.

POST 19Original post

Off topic regarding 996s, I know. But I happened to watch this earlier today, prior to seeing this thread. RUF related. You Tube

POST 20Original post

Does Porsche have any other authorized OEM partners like RUF that can stamp their own VINs? Singer? Other? Great business model.

That's my uncle's car. I got to drive it around rural VT for a weekend a couple years ago. Just an amazing car and it's the car that got me to buy my 996.

POST 25Original post

Is the w09 ruf rgt based from a carrera white body not from a GT3 with extra welding?

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
