Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Also installed Numeric cables which further improved shifting.
Leading evidence: 'Install numeric cables' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'model' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install numeric cables' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If your current blue lever has no play, it is likely a BAD model with Delrin seals, whereas the blue ones from eBay deteriorate within a year due to their plumbing-grade paper gaskets.

I also added a few drilled dimples for my **** set screws to locate into to ensure it does'nt move.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've just bought/ installed the Ben Auto design shifter and must say its a nice piece of work.
I ordered the Classic one here:
https://benautodesign.fr/en/home/68-...hifter-20.html
I considered a numeric but I'd rather spend that amount of money elsewhere, but this setup has really tightened up the shifting.
Bearings on all the items and a replaceable white part for the shifter ball (spare supplied in box).
Very happy with it.
Any idea how much it shortens shifter throw? Similar to a 997 ask? And were the instructions/install pretty straightforward?
The website is pretty sparse.
Feels about the same as my previous short shifter, which was a classic Ebay special. But, everything is very slick with no slop.
Previously it had a Japanese market short shift fitted, but the side ball broke off after 20 years or so I assume.
No instructions, if you have the factory shifter off it becomes clear how it all goes back together.
Plenty of people to ask on here if you get stuck.
I'm in NZ so no tariffs or duty payable and no GST (NZ Tax) either!
VAT is not charged on exports, so it cost me a lot less.
I think i paid just under $600 NZD at my door and only took 10 days to travel half the world.
I wanted to see as well so I played around with checkout and they dropped VAT to ship to Canada, total shipped would be 312 Euro. No idea about local tariffs/duties/taxes, thats a regional problem. I presume Ill see local sales tax at the very least, but I see that no matter where I order from.
I have the B.A.D shifter as well and really like how it feels. One thing i noticed, im wondering if the actual steel shifter bar is a tiny bit taller then the stock one. ive noticed when shifting into 6th or some other gears it will pull my leather shift boot plastic tabs off the corners.
thinking i might take a couple millimeters off the shaft and see if that helps.
anyone else experience that?
Ask Ben; I’m sure he’ll answer you.
On the 987, yes, the lever is longer, which allows for an optimal grip and better leverage. I’ve never seen a race car with a gear lever positioned right down by the floor; they all have high-mounted levers to minimize the time spent moving your hand between the steering wheel and the gearshift.
Depends on your shifter ****, mine was only slotted in the shaft and not through into the round part of the shifter. So I cut my shaft down to suit.
I also added a few drilled dimples for my **** set screws to locate into to ensure it does'nt move.
I was told several years ago when I bought my 996 that it had a B.A.D shifter, it shifts fine, I dont believe mine has the BAD logo on it.. did his early shifters come with a logo? Or perhaps I was told a porky pie
