Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I ran Bridgestone Blizzaks on my 03 C2 for 3 winters.

Is anyone running 18"s with blizzaks, how do they compare to 17"s is the difference noticeable ?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sorry in advance because I'm sure this is a repost and I wanted to add it to a post I saw earlier in the week but couldn't find it again.
SO, I understand the reason behind 17" wheels and snow and winter and all that. Looking for my wheels/tires I see a lot of local posts for 18" wheels with tires for sale but haven't really seen any 17"s. I priced out a set of 17"s on tire rack but new wheels that are just going to get thrashed in the winter seems like a waste and I'd prefer to get them used.
Questions
Is anyone running 18"s with blizzaks, how do they compare to 17"s is the difference noticeable ?
What other makes/models of wheels fit on the 996 mk1 ?
Anyone have some for sale ?
I live in Colorado, but born and raised in Indiana. So my snow driving skills are above average. I have a '01 C4 so I have awd going for me. The past 7 years I've driven my 944 in the winter so this will be my first winter driving the 996.
I'll hold out on 17"s until snow starts to fall but I'd really like to know if I can make due with 18"s in the mean time.
I'd like to keep my 944 in the garage to overhaul this winter, but I may just pack in the 996 and break the 944 back out if I can't find anything.
I lived in Indiana for 11 years before I moved to Colorado. My 996 C4S was my daily driver all year long in Indiana and in Colorado. I ran 18" Blizzaks for a few seasons, but I switched to Pirelli Winter SnowSport 240s after that. I think the Blizzaks were better for Indiana and the Pirellis were better for Colorado. I say this because I drove on packed snow frequently in Indiana, and in Colorado there's more driving on cold, dry roads.
My 996 did very well in winter conditions with 18" wheels. I can't compare them to 17" wheels, but I had no issues at all with the 18s. The AWD system in the 996 doesn't add much for winter driving. The tires make all the difference.
I ran Bridgestone Blizzaks on my 03 C2 for 3 winters. I used the factory 18 inch sport design wheels. Even with rear wheel drive the car was an absolute beast in the snow. Now, when you get into multiple inches of unplowed snow any car is going to have an issue but all in all it was a great experience.
What size tires did you run if you don't mind me asking? I'd like to get winter tires for my 02 C2 and I have the 18" turbo-looks. I have not seen anything that matches the 285/30 specs on my Potenzas.
