Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, just hoping someone can help with a knocking on turning the wheel 1/4 turn that seems to be resisting getting fixed! I know this has been discussed before and is usually tie rod ends, but I have recently had the suspension, all arms, top mounts, sway bar bushes and inner and outer track rod ends done and there is still an audible dull knocking sound coming from somewhere to towards the front drivers side on turning the steering wheel. There is no play in the steering and the knock does not occur over bumps in a straight line. Grabbing the drivers side front wheel and wiggling it good and hard does produce a knock / loose sound from somewhere under the car to the front drivers side. Im at a bit of a loss as to what it could be! Does anyone have an idea? Heres a vid of the noise while wiggling the wheel.. any help would be greatly appreciated! Im new to the 996 and absolutely loving it!!

POST 2Original post

Dont see a link to video in your post, unfortunately. Perhaps there's play between the rack itself and the steering rack housing due to worn bearing surfaces. The ones I mean are in the 2nd pic in this thread (not a 996 but every rack and pinion has these bearings) http://delicaforum.com/index.php?thr...ring-rack.784/

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not quite the knocking, but normal?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, much appreciated - Ill have a look at the link. Sorry about the missing vid, Ive re uploaded it! 🙌👌
