Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't have a problem myself with my car but lately as I've given my tall friends rides I've noticed that my passenger seat doesn't seem to be going back as far as I thought it used to. I thought the seat would go as far back that it would almost nearly touch the back seats. But instead it only goes as far back as the rear rail point intersecting with the end of the rail. I've attached a picture below but I'm pretty sure my seat used to be able to go further than this before. I checked to make sure nothing is blocking the track but it appears to be clean. Is this really all it will do? If so how do you 6' 4" guys do it? My friend who is that height looked like he was crouched in a fetal position in my car this morning. I also noticed the same on the driver side as well. How are all of yours set up?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seriously no one has tested to see how far back their seats go?!? Does your seat bracket extend beyond the seat rail or does it stop like mine does in the photo above?

POST 3Original post

Is your rear floor mat stuck in the tracks? That used to happen to mine.

I removed the mat just to make sure but still it stops right at the position shown above. Now there was a time during one of my DE inspections where the tech told me he tightened up my seat rails because they were loose. Don't know if that means he did something he shouldn't have but I just find it unusual that my seats don't go back any further. Thanks!

POST 5Original post

Looks like you have an issue. Mine ('03) can be moved back all the way till the outer rail disappears and the inner rail slides out.

POST 6Original post

I'm 6'-4" and fit with no problem. Both drivers and passengers seats go back the same extent. I agree with Ahsai, there is something amiss. Have you tried raising the seat a bit before moving it back? I had a car once where the would not go back all the way when the seat was too low. Can you watch the seat tracks/rails (might take a mirror to view it) while it is moving back to see why it stops?

POST 7Original post

I'm 6'3 and have no issues with comfort in mine. I also do not keep my seat all the way back, about half way actually. Not sure why your friend is having issues.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all. I haven't looked at it yet because I haven't had any tall passengers in my car since. I'm thinking there was one time when I went in for a DE inspection that they told me they did tighten my seat rails. Maybe that did it? I'll check it out soon though and see if I find an obstruction or reason why. Appreciate the responses!
