Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So to close this one off, fitted the discs with painted hats, drove it with the existing pads and it is cleaning up the disc surface fine, will bleed the system and drop in the Porsche Sports pads the weekend before the final DE of the year

I used Rustoleum Hammered Silver brush-on when I did mine!

Why dont you just remove the overspray by wiping with clean rag and brake cleaner.

Should I leave the old pads in first to clean they disc surface or is it ok to put the new pads in, drive easy at first and then bed the new pads and discs.

Actually, using chemicals to remove the excess will ruin the paint on the hats (ask me how I know)!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Im going to fit new front rotors and pads this weekend, I have just painted the hats and have some overspray on the disc surface.
Should I leave the old pads in first to clean they disc surface or is it ok to put the new pads in, drive easy at first and then bed the new pads and discs.
Just concerned I may contaminate the pads before they are bedded in.
Whats the advice from the esteemed group?
Install your new pads. As you're seating them in, they will remove the paint overspray from the rotors. You'll get back home with shiny new rotors and hats!
Understand that after a drive the discs would clean up fine, just asking if cleaning up the discs with new pads could contaminate them in some way before they are bedded in?
Why risk it? 5 minutes with some 0000 steel wool and some soapy water will take the overspray right off. Follow up with brake cleaner to ensure any soapy/greasy stuff is removed.
Risk what? You guys are all over thinking this in the classic Rennlist fashion. Just paint it all and be done. It's not like the brakes are gonna fail all of a sudden or you're gonna notice the .001% in braking efficiency.
Take for example Zimmerman brake company that's been around for years. They and others sell coated brake rotors for all kinds of cars and these come FULLY coated. If there were really any negligible issues, you would not see this option straight from manufacturers.
If you have a lot of paint on the mating surface "hat" of the rotor, there is a really good chance the wheel bolts will loosen over time. If you are painting these parts, make sure those areas have very thin layer of paint.
Some people here spend too much time at Pebble Beach...
The overspray will be gone at the first 4-way stop.
They're brake pads and rotors on a 911, not Lladro porcelain.

Why dont you just remove the overspray by wiping with clean rag and brake cleaner. You should always clean the rotor surface area each time you get fingerprints, grease, oil, etc. on the area the pads ride on.
I can see where alot of paint could actually "gum up" the new pads. Could you post some pics of this deal?

The drive it and it will take care of itself crowd are right. Only exception - if there is so much extra paint on the disc, it could wind up getting stuck on the caliper - which would be a mess!
^^ What did you paint your rotors with, premium flat enamel interior paint? With a roller? How do you get enough paint on a rotor to make it pile up and stick to the caliper?!?
