I'll be running back to Paris, TN to touch base with some of my money pit projects...i originally wanted to do the slush racing motorsports even here in Nash that lets you ring out your vehicle on a couple hot laps.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, I have been scouring the posts and learning as much as possible the past few weeks. I have restored old Fords, owned a couple BMWs and also have 66 project 912. The 912 has motivated me to buy my first running Porsche I picked it up last weekend in Fl and drove home the TN without any issues. Success! There is one thing I need to address though. The rear "spoiler" (is that the correct term?) Is not raising an lowering. When I push the button on the DS left foot panel, the motor spins freely, but nothing moves. My guess it that the drive cables have become detached or worn and are no longer contacting the motor drives. I had this with a BMW E34 seatback that caused "twist". I plan to dig into it this w/e. Any advice? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Congrats and welcome to the party! This thread is useless without photos so share some when you can! The Targa was always one of my favorite models. IMHO, with the rear glass opening up it's the perfect road trip car.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Chattanooga Sir! You? Will you be at the Motorcar Festival this weekend?

POST 8Original post

I'm in Nashville. I'll be running back to Paris, TN to touch base with some of my money pit projects...i originally wanted to do the slush racing motorsports even here in Nash that lets you ring out your vehicle on a couple hot laps. Great looking car BTW! 996 targas are extremely cool.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Right on. I am interested in the "slush racing" you are talking about. My son and I do the autocross from time to time and take some trips to Atlanta Motor Park for Track nights. Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for the complement on the new 996

POST 10Original post

Congrats from one Targa owner to another! You have a good looking Targa! Ok, on an unrelated note. Am I the only one when checking out this beauty went right to it being parked over the concrete parking block? My OCD kicked in big time as I'm ridiculous in making sure to always stop short of them. Lol

Yet another reason to stick with stock 'dentist car' ride height. It might not look cool, but you can't see those extra CMs of ride height when cruising in the twisties.

POST 13Original post

Congrats another silver Targa, just bought a 2004 Silver/Black 6 speed in SC, being delivered to AZ Mon or Tues....

POST 15Original post

Great looking Targa! Mine is a Carrara White '03 Tiptronic.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a follow up on the rear spoiler. All is well. One 'drive cable' was disconnected, and both sleeves were full of crap and jammed up. Took it all apart, cleaned and lubed everything, and now we are in good shape. About 4 hours and $0 spent!
