The only drawback is that the coolant lubricates the water pump and the distilled doesn't.

Anyone added a third radiator on a C4S? I've read a few threads about how the parts are slightly different than a C2 but haven't found any threads where anyone had done this.
It is hotter than the devil's ******** here and am considering this mod for DD and track duty.
Looked into it when I swapped out my engine for an X51, but the dealer said that the C4S never came from the factory with the 3rd rad even when spec'd with the X51 option. The larger side rads from the TT make it unnecessary apparently. I'd be curious to know if tiptronic C4S's came with it though since I think all other tips got it.
I have thought about a low temp thermostat but have always wondered if the change in normal operating temp negatively affects operation of the motor. Maybe I'm over thinking it. Do you run all water or a mix with the water wetter?
Yes, all distilled with 3 bottles of water wetter. Car runs cooler when casually driving. 5-10 degrees. At the track I'd say it cools as well as coolant. I track the car frequently and don't want to be responsible for a coolant spill. The only drawback is that the coolant lubricates the water pump and the distilled doesn't. I was told to replace the pump after 1-2 years as a consumable.

Your right tho. 3rd radiator would be trick peaking through the nose. I'm goin to install one. You just cost me $$$.
A center radiator kit allows your 996 to achieve temperatures as much as 20 degrees cooler. The effects are particularly noticeable on cars used on the track and warmer climates.
