Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm unable to pass a SMOG because of this generic p0452 CEL. Google says the P0452 is a Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input. From some initial research, it seems a fix could be simply replacing the Fuel Pressure Sensor but I am not seeing any info online on this generic code. I'd hate to order something that isn't going to solve my issue but I am planning to place an order on FCP Euro tomorow for my 02 BMW 540i so I may just throw this $118 sensor into the cart. I've already replaced the gas cap because the old seal was crackly. Symptoms: 1. Basically no symptoms. However, prior to this CEL coming up, I've had fuel gauge issues in the past where the needle doesn't work unless the car is being refueled with adequate amounts of fuel (half to fuel tank worth). But this issue had occurred many years prior to this CEL coming up so I'm unsure if they're related. Here are some other threads I've found during my research into diagnosing this issue: 1. Check Your Fuel Pump/Sender Wiring! Repair guide inside. 2. P0452 Evap System CEL 3. Fuel pressure sensor replacement guide with pics If anyone has other useful links, please share and thank you! Lastly, here's a quick snap of the car

POST 2Original post

Its a generic code for the evap. If the sensor doesnt work your next step may be to smoke test the system for a leak. I could me a seal, hose or even a cracked charcoal canister.

Thank you. The sensor should arrive next week and I hope it works! Otherwise I will follow your advice on next steps.

I used to get a CEL for some kind of evap leak now and then in my 2k 996, then after putting in all new oxygen sensors (for another reason) the CEL never came back...so weird
