Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have searched EVERYWHERE for this and cannot find an answer! Is the bulb type for a '99 996 without litronics 7506 or is it 7507?

POST 2Original post

I know the frustration, I don't remember myself. If you do not have your owners manual, you can try taking out the bulb and bringing it to the store, or if it is not possible, just buy both and return the one that you don't need. Don't go to the dealer to buy the bulb either. They will charge you like $35 as opposed to like $7.00 elsewhere.

POST 3Original post

I can't find a cross-reference to the standard bulb number that your looking for but the OE replacement part number is 90063112790 and we can get them. Hope this helps.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the help ECS, I'm trying to figure it out so I can get "stealth" or "chrome plated" bulbs to install after the amberectomy. Do you carry anything of the sort?

(ST)7506 are the chrome 21W lamps (single contact) that you want. 7507 have an offset pin on the side and will jam when you try to install them as they fit 2002 and up with the offset slots in the interior of the socket as opposed to the pins that are at the same plane on the metal barrel of 7506. The wattage for both is the same but the fitment is slightly different. $29.99 at Pelican for a pair. They look silver without power and flash amber when used. The normal lamp for a 99 is also a 7506 but is CLEAR when you are useing the amber plastic lenses that came with the 99's. The OEM brand is Osram/Sylvania available anywhere. Pelican sell them for $1.75 each.

POST 6Original post

The signal bulbs are 7506 front and rear (same as 1156 -- single filament) -- at least for my car (2001). The pins are at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock, on the same plane. Note that 7507 and PY21W are listed in some places as signal bulb for rear, but these have pins at 9 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions.

Thanks for the clarification, you guys are a huge help!

POST 8Original post

Just wanted to revive an old thread that was helpful in my simple quest to fix my front turn signal on my 996.2. To clarify, the 996.2 uses bulb fitment 7507 in which the pin is at 9 o'clock and 4 o'clock. For some reason, many local auto parts stores carried 7506 but not 7507. Also, this is pretty dumb, but the mechanism can be turned both ways. Only one way gets the bulb to contact the metal and turn on correctly. Thanks all.
