Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I apologize for intervening in this thread - but I checked KK's policies and procedures and had to correct this misstatement.
Leading evidence: 'Check kk's policies and procedures and had' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check kk's policies and procedures and had' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Phone was in the driver's door compartment, but checked the oil before finding it so no need to call Raby.

Checked the oil halfway up to Duluth and it was one bar from full.

Suggestion
Some would say "rebuild the engine immediately" , if you are running the good stuff , you should be ok for a few hundred miles more

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I checked the oil and it's halfway up the dipstick between the marks after being started for 20 seconds. The digital meter after it was warmed up was right in the middle.
I had thought when I put oil in it about 3500 miles ago that it was on the high end of the meter and those marks.
Do I need to call Jake up and ship my car to him asap, or should I save the money and buy a Rolex and not worry, or?
If things go well I'll hit the 5000 mark and change it again yet this fall before putting it away or right away in the spring.
Errr / don't you need to check the oil before you start ? If you are running m1 ... Some would say "rebuild the engine immediately" , if you are running the good stuff , you should be ok for a few hundred miles more
Well in that case, what if I trailer a spare 996?
Any performance is already lost by either worrying that performance will kill the engine, and trailering another engine, so may as well pull along a backup car.
I apologize for intervening in this thread - but I checked KK's policies and procedures and had to correct this misstatement.
In fact, the preferred approach is to hire an enclosed trailer large enough for the 996 as well as the tools and parts needed to rebuild the engine in transit to (and once again on the way back from) the destination location.
Ideally, the 996 will be placed on wheel dollies; this allows a team of hired workers to push the 996 around on a large paved area as KK sits in the driver seat and pretends to steer while making engine noises.
Hey that's neat, false alarm!
Checked the oil halfway up to Duluth and it was one bar from full. I guess before I wasn't level or since the car just started it was colder and didn't have a chance to settle.
Phone was in the driver's door compartment, but checked the oil before finding it so no need to call Raby.
Nope, car stays in normal operating temps when driving so no real reason to check it. And, if I recall correctly, the last time I looked a few months ago it was fine.
Coolant is a little below the min line, will add more later when I get around to it.
"Have you checked that the coolant level hasn't dropped, the dreaded intermix issue may be making your levels un stable."
I think the intermix is pretty obvious due to the CSS (Chocolate Shake Syndrome) in the coolant tank...
At least you're near Atlanta and Macon. I was born in Waycross. All they have is swamp and trains.
Luckily my dad was Army so I never actually lived there (mom went home to have me while he was teaching at West Point). It is a nice place with wonderful people, but there's nothin there...
Made it back, oil is still fine, coolant is fine. Only thing that happened is my rearview mirror decided to break and leak some LCD juice... So need to replace that.
Can't really beat 24mpg at 80 with the top down and 27 or so at 80 with the top up.
