Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Lots of dried crud and oil over the middle of the sway bar, transmission and the rear of the engine too, so I will give it a good cleaning after completing the coils\spark plugs job.
Leading evidence: 'Use brake' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'factory cosmoline' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean after completing the coils\spark plugs job' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

A lot of that is probably the factory cosmoline that they sprayed everywhere on the assembly line, with a good amount of road dirt mixed in after all the years.

What about using some "Benzin" to clean the undercarriage...?!
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So i'm looking underneath my 996.1 C2 (70k miles\engine has 36k miles) for the first time, replacing the coil packs and spark plugs. I have almost done the job on cylinders 4,5,6 (not started 1,2,3 yet). To anyone planning on doing this job themselves, I'm amazed that Mr Raby could do this job on Youtube without dropping the muffler. I spent a while trying to get number 4 spark plug out, but it was possible after removing the muffler. I think a better choice of socket extensions (maybe 1/4 inch) is needed. I also found the muffler can be removed without dropping the rear bumper.
Anyhow, on to my questions...
According to the hood sticker, (with matching VIN) the car has the Limited Slip Differential (options 220, 222, 224). When turning one drive shaft, is the other one supposed to turn? On my car, rotating one side by hand will not cause the other side rotate. Does it require a specific torque to lock? Is there any easy test to confirm that I have the LSD?
What are the clips I've circled in red supposed to be attached to? The part is inside the cavity alongside the transmission on the drivers side. Notice the bigger one is wet with oil....
The coils and plugs look like originals (see picture). I have the 997 replacement coils. The NGK BKR6EK spark plugs have only 2 earth electrodes compared to the old BERU ones which have 4. Does it matter?
Lots of dried crud and oil over the middle of the sway bar, transmission and the rear of the engine too, so I will give it a good cleaning after completing the coils\spark plugs job. I'll need 1 or 2 cans of WD40 unless someone can recommend a more suitable product?
Something missing here?
I use brake clean for cleaning oil residue and general gunk... it’s relatively inexpensive and will not leave residue behind.
Always have at least a couple cans in the garage.
The clutch type LSD takes quite a bit of torque to lock, I doubt you can do it by hand. To test if you have one, rev up to about 3500 RPM and drop the clutch - two stripes = LSD, one stripe = open diff.
Just kidding about that....
A lot of that is probably the factory cosmoline that they sprayed everywhere on the assembly line, with a good amount of road dirt mixed in after all the years. The only thing I have found to cut through it is kerosene.
To answer this question in my OP.
After some detective work on bringatrailer. (yeah, BAT is NOT a total time waster...), it turns out the clips connect throttle cable to the blue line (hydraulic?) and another bigger line further up the body.

In the 15 miles I have actually driven the car since buying it, I actually noticed the accelerator pedal felt a bit spongy. The cable was probably flexing around quite a bit. But it will be several few days before I can test drive because online retailer of engine mount kit only sent one engine mount... (I won't be naming the supplier just yet...
) and I need to replace both sides first.
Just a guess but was it Pelican? Asking as I recently ordered strut bump stops and instead they sent me bellows (with bump stop sticker labels on them). On top of that they said it would be at my house the next day (they are local to me) and it actually took three days. They have really gone downhill IMO.
No.. but I do have an order on the way from Pelican... But with this engine mount kit supplier, I would take 3 days delivery in a heartbeat. It's been 10 days so far. Not returning my emails and phone calls, unapologetic tone etc.
Good lord! That is a long wait. Cancel and try FCP Euro or Jason at Warehouse33. Another option - did you know you can buy OE motor mounts off Amazon? I'm always amazed at the free one delivery with Prime. I'm sure the Orlando Porsche dealer might have some in stock. Could call them.
