Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked power at terminal 86 on the start relay #7 I got 12 volts with the key in on position.
Leading evidence: 'Check power at terminal 86' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check power at terminal 86' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

They took care of that and did great but once installed I still had starting issue because of pin 85 having no ground.

i went ahead and removed the jumper and installed a new relay.

I just had immobilizer repaired by Ecu specialist.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased a 03 911 cab with a wet immobilizer. I got a new one and had it reprogrammed to pair it to keys and ECU doctors. They were very professional. When I installed everything back it didnt start. I was crushed.
I went ahead and jumpered out the starter 53 relay on the relay board by the Ecu under the carpet under the cabriolet top. Boom car started up. I was excited.
question is for those that know this topic well. Can I replace the relay and be on my way, or is it possible the relay is good and the signal that goes to the relay isnt happening.
if so how would I test this?
thanks for your help.
You need a wiring diagram if you don't have one and follow it to the point where either + or - don't exist depending upon which is switched. Sounds like you need to look at what's before the point you worked on.
i went ahead and removed the jumper and installed a new relay. And now it wont start. So whatever is triggering the control side of the relay isnt working
should the DME at the start relay just be a good ground?
also what is there to check if the DME isnt working. I just had immobilizer repaired by Ecu specialist.
Dont know, test the coil side if the relay, one side will have either a constant ground or 12v and the other pin is probably open.
im prerty sure the porsche pwis software diagnostic system can jumper inbetween the dme and harness to read all the inputs. U may have to spend some money at the dealer or at least as a minimum spend some money o a Bentley Manual. They r not that much money to have the correct schmatics. U r beyond a simple voltage check.
OK here is the latest update.
I checked power at terminal 86 on the start relay #7 I got 12 volts with the key in on position. See picture below
I also bench checked my new relay and it works.
I then jumpered terminal 87-30 and can start the car. I also can crank the car in the jumpered condition with the immobilizer disconnected BUT it will not start as Im guessing the ignition or fuel is being stopped. So the immobilizer is doing something.
last I checked if I had continuity to ground from TERMINAL 85 in all three key positions (off,on,crank). And I have no continuity.
Does anyone know what that 85 terminal ground circuit is? Is there any connections or fuses etc, I need to check
Pin 85 is the output from the dme pin d33 ye/vt/bn color. I guess the dme grounds the wire. Again, your dme is not releasing the start lock relay if u have continuity back to the dme plug.
someone else will gave to chime in because im not sure, but doesnt a new immobilizer have to be programed to the dme?
yes I sent the immobilizer out to ecu specialist with my ECU and my keys to program. They took care of that and did great but once installed I still had starting issue because of pin 85 having no ground. I found the wire connected to 85 was cut and was ran to the left quarter panel by the rear speaker. Not sure why. I grounded it and the car now starts through the relay. But it sounds like that wire should actually go the ECU?
Ill try to track that down.
