Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all, I have a 40th anniversary edition 911, and am having some possible issues with the frunk. If I walk up to the car, unlock it with the remote, then open the trunk to put groceries in (for example), the alarm will arm itself after about 30 seconds while the trunk is still open. Then when I shut the trunk, the car thinks someone is breaking in so it sets off. Is this normal? For the alarm to set itself even with the trunk open? Or is there a sensor or switch that has gone bad or something? Thanks for any help!

POST 2Original post

Probably a faulty microswitch on the hood latch mechanism. Not to difficult to access and replace.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thank you! Do you have a parts list i could check, or part number?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! So number 9 I am assuming? Is there a way to test the switch before I go throwing money at it? What would the test procedure be? Open/close the hood and check continuity?

POST 6Original post

Yes thats basically the test but just expose the switch and operate it with your finger.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! Ill try to get to this today or tomorrow...

Thats the one. I would just replace it. These things can sometimes get a lot of wear for daily driven cars, and since the switch, lock, spring, and latch mechanism are all included in that one $150 part, you dont want something else to break, leaving you with the inability to open the frunk at the most inopportune time. It isnt just the ice cream cake you might need to get at, its also the battery.
