Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Over the past year I have had what I thought was a balky handbrake alert light switch. When I set the brake there were times when the light would not come on, making the cab top inoperable. This year the light would not come on no matter how much jiggling I did so I bit the bullet and removed the entire center console and switch. What I am finding now, however is that the switch is operating completely normally outside the console. I depress the button just a tad and the light goes out. I release it and the light comes on. I have a new switch on order but now Im thinking that the problem may actually be at the interface between the switch mounting area and the area of the handbrake that depresses the switch. Has anyone else had this problem?. I dont want to reassemble everything only to have the problem continue.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Getting the new switch into place is difficult. I am having trouble indexing the retainer pin into the retaining hole without deforming the pin. Any suggestions out there from those who have done this a few times? I may need to get another new switch with pristine pin🙁
