I haven't checked it for a while, and was thinking this might be an easy first check, and will check the tranny mount whilst there...other suggestions welcome, as its going to be a few days before I can raise the car.

Thanks for the suggestions.....hadn't considered the mounts as a cause, but they are the OE mounts, so I was thinking about a change anyway......

Just looking for any suggestions of where to start for a diagnosis on my 2003 C4S Coupe Tiptronic... 100K Miles Symptons: When first driven in a day there is often a quite noticeable vibration noise from somewhere around the gearbox tunnel - only seems to happen at slow speed when the engine and trans is cold. cannot be felt on the steering, or indeed in the car, but is quite loud...... Any suggestions on what to check when I get under there much appreciated.... Thanks

Check all the CV boots for any tears/splits or other signs of distress. Goes away when engine/tranny warm? Is it too much to hope for that you are experiencing some serious flat spotting tire behavior? Based on my experience this is worse when temps are mild. While the tires get plenty hot and soft on hot days the nights often don't get cool enough for the tires to actually take a set. On colder days of course the tires just don't get hot enough.

Thanks for the suggestions.....hadn't considered the mounts as a cause, but they are the OE mounts, so I was thinking about a change anyway...... I think the tyres are OK, but I had similar problems on a m/bike once after a winter in the garage - in fact I noticed it once or twice last year, but it seems now to be getting more noticeable. No chance it could be transmission oil level? I haven't checked it for a while, and was thinking this might be an easy first check, and will check the tranny mount whilst there...other suggestions welcome, as its going to be a few days before I can raise the car.
