Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Might be worth removing the wheels and taking them into a place to have them checked for balance.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I took my 996 cab for a drive, almost immediately noticed a wobble or vibration from the rear. Not noticeable a parking lot speeds or acceleration, but at coasting, cruising, deceleration and braking. From searches, could be motor mount, differential or rotor issues. Note, I went for a long, spirited drive Sunday afternoon and gave it a wash immediately after. I wasn't thinking and sprayed water on one of the rear wheels, lots of steam. I drove it a few hours later for 45 minutes without any issues, or noise. I drove it today for the first time since then and noticed the wobble/vibration. Any ideas? Could it be related to the water? Something else? Thanks everyone!

POST 4Original post

Jack the rear end up, chock the front wheels, knock the car out of gear and slowly spin each back wheel examining the inside of the tire and wheel. You may have lost a lead balance weight or developed a bubble on the inside tire wall. Check tire thread as the inside wears more quickly than the rest of the tire. Might be worth removing the wheels and taking them into a place to have them checked for balance. Good luck.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! After thinking about it, wheel/tire issue probably makes the most sense. I did not have time last night, but will jack the back end up and give everything a look tonight. Thankfully I don't drive it on a daily basis, so being out of commission is not a big deal.
