Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

36 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, I’m a long time member and I’ve been gone for a while with health issues but I wanted to post a few pics of my sim racing environment and lab that I use to develop for RealGT Simulation. I hope to have new videos up soon, both in AR (augmented Reality) and Multi Projection. Thank you for taking a look and enjoy. You Tube In the passenger seat of the real GT in the pits. Unfortunately my camera exposure skills stink and it makes the interior look darker than in real life and the projection screen lighter. *shrug My homage to the Porsche, the best engineered things on earth. Close ups of the Wilco Diorama. The detail is pretty ridiculous. Some of the models I collected over the years, I decided to do something with them as they were just sitting on my desk and in the closet. Looking in from the rear access panel of the RealGT. The image that wraps around the cockpit is true to scale and incredibly immersive. Another interior shot. This simulator is Porsche themed because I love Porsche but the final version will be my own design and orders of magnitude better. The king of VR, XTAL This is my VR flight simulator. The center stack contains a 1080p 8 inch screen to be able to interact with the PC and a stream deck using several different macros and scripts so you basically don’t need a keyboard and mouse. Everything is script based. The plethora of systems, electronics that run this are all housed in the cockpit behind the dashboard and under the bonnet. When maintenance is needed it wheels out and you can get access to all the subsystems easily. The simulator does VR/AR and multi projection. It has a built in surround sound system, 4x D-Box motion platform, G-Force seat to simulate sustained G forces, servo based steering system, both H pattern and sequential shift and analog E brake. I built this a long long time ago. My workstation where I do most of the modding and planning and new designs.

POST 2Original post

It looks amazing! Glad you hear your health issues are getting sorted. Did you have a thread here a few years ago? I remember there was one, but I thought it was based on an actual 911/996 body sans front clip....

POST 3Original post

Can I be your friend? All of that looks amazing

Your diorama was purchased not constructed? We built this train/slot car track and one feature is a working crossing. Look forward to improving it towards the quality of your diorama.

POST 7Original post

I remember your sim! I'm green with envy. Wow, wow, wow... I hope you're enjoying these toys in better health.

POST 8Original post

This is incredible Will! Congrats! I especially love the dioramas.

POST 9Original post

Very nice gaming room!!! You invested alot of time and efforts and it shows. Can you share more infos about your rig? The setup seems awesome dont be shy about the details. Wheels/motor, shifter and pedal set you are using? The D-box motorisation is something Im sure, it really bring the experience to another level. Im enjoying Iracing with Oculus, Frex direct drive and Fanatec inverted pedals so a motorised setup is still a dream for me! Thanks for sharing!

POST 11Original post

As someone who has played video games for the last 25 years I am super jealous. I've always wanted to build a sim, even a basic one. This looks like a lot of fun.

POST 12Original post

I hope to build a sim rig one of these days. Live wondered about building a 2 seat Porsche sim rig, and here you’ve built one. Now I know it can be done! I’d love to see more pictures and details!

POST 13Original post

OP, you NEED a servant, I'm available! (I'll even do windows)

POST 15Original post

impressive! Hope you have some better health moving forward.

POST 16Original post

Wow amazing stuff! So much to look at in those Diagramas. Puts my sim rig to shame! I did use an air cooled 911 seat for my cockpit and Porsche floor mats LOL!

POST 17Original post

forgot 2 ask: what Porsche do you own in RL ?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New video ladies and gents. This is a pretty close to finished prototype. There are very few simulators on earth that can match her. You Tube

POST 20Original post

simply incredible what you've done here! years of blood and sweat is proving to be worth it 1 million times over!

POST 21Original post

I'm just warning you - if you ever accidentally post pics with GPS data embedded I will be knocking on your door in Connecticut. I'm very friendly... but I may claim "squatters rights" inside of your simulator.

Thanks bud, after my heart attack and surgery I almost didnt make it putting this on the back burner for 2 years. But hopefully some day soon I can pull together my patents and some money and let other people experience it. I had to disable comments on my original video because people were coming out of the woodwork just wishing me horrible things and being overall ******. Not sure if they think Im some megacorp or something. Im just a dude who loves cars.

POST 23Original post

I used to review racing games in the late 90s for GA Sports (long gone) and the biggest complaint that anyone had back then was lack of immersion. Force feedback was weak and inconsistent in games and it often felt like a buzzer in the wheel when implemented. Its come so far since then, I can sit in my buddy's rig and get absolutely worked in an F1 race on a big screen but what you're doing is absolutely amazing. Good on ya and stay healthy. Maybe I'll make a rig for Grand Prix Legends now Oh yeah, I'll be coming over with Dr_Strangelove --- 'nuff said.

Independent write up and video from journalist who came from Australia to test drive the simulator for a week. Thanks. You Tube

POST 26Original post

Im picking up a monster video card today. I might try to get into VR with iRacing at some point. Sims are fun.

POST 28Original post

I'm loving your updates. The immersion is wonderful. So much excitement just watching. My wife just asked what I've been smiling at for the last 15 minutes. I think she was disappointed that it was another car related video.

Reminds me of growing up when the kid with the best video game setup and biggest game collection was the one person everyone in the neighborhood was nice to.

POST 31Original post

Just fascinating!! When it eventually goes into production will it cost as much as a new Porsche ?

POST 32Original post

Wow! This is absolutely amazing! Cant wit to see more of it!

POST 33Original post

That is pretty incredible to see in action. Looks like a lot of fun.

POST 34Original post

Wow! If we can go from Atari Pong to this, perhaps flying cars and robot girls that can make sandwiches aren't that far away after all! And... congrats on your recovery and continuing good health.

POST 35Original post

Nice!! Are you an industrial designer or on the software side? I'm a user interface guy who worked for BMW up to a couple of years ago. What a sweet setup. I wish I had the money and space. But for now, the real thing may suffice

POST 36Original post

How much time have you put into this project? Started in 2013 or so, right? Absolutely beautiful. Need any CT based test riders, lol?
