Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

New
Porsche Classic Communication Management system for 996. Looks awesome if you ask me with the 996 DNA all over it . I wonder if it can be connected to the Porsche CD changer as well

Besides losing the CD, this thing is expensive compared to other options. I added Bluetooth to my stock radio and kept the CD changer working for less than $120. No, I don't have a touchscreen or navigation, but that's what my giant iPhone is for and I kept the entirely stock look.
That said, it is nice that Porsche is thinking about our cars!
I hooked up to blue tooth with a plug in adapter I got on Amazon. There was a link here a while back.
you set your radio to a certain frequency and it pairs your phone and the radio.
Here's what I used:

Not difficult at all. The hardest part was figuring out how to use the special "radio removal" tool to get the radio out. I added the optional noise reduction component, and that meant splicing wires but if I can do it, anyone can. Other than that, you're basically daisy-chaining the Bluetooth adapter in. When my phone isn't connected to the Bluetooth, the CD player works. Turn on Bluetooth and the audio uses the CD/AUX channel.
Don't understand why they added navigation services, which drives up the cost at this juncture if it already has Carplay and Android Auto. I guess if you don't have signal at all, and out in the boonies, that may be of value but this is a 911. Chances of being remote are few and far between.
Also, by now, it should have integrated wireless carplay/android auto. It's sill to have to plug the phone in at this price point.
Thanks! That's a hard pass for me but it does look nice.
I don't use the CD player/changer and will just continue listening to my iPod while I drive. LOL!
Agreed about the integrated navigation - just an extra expense and complication. I've seen three different brands of head units with Carplay in use, and all three required a wired connection to the phone.
Interesting. I wonder if it is plug-and-play for PCM1 cars with DSP. $1700 is a lot, but to my knowledge the only option for PCM1 is to go the CAI route with their custom harness and 5-channel apm. Their 5-channel amp andharness are $1100. When you add in the cheapest double DIN unit at $400, you're at $1500 total and still have to do the amp install, run the wires, ect.
I've been looking for years for PCM1 replacement options.
So if this is plug and play for PCM1 at $1700 its not horrible.
Thank goodness for that. If it werent, Id be worried! Id be like, I dont know what you did with the old Porsche brand, but please give me back the constant feeling that I can barely afford this!
