Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Had new PS2s fitted today, well worth it not least becaus they discovered that the right front wheel is out of true!
Leading evidence: 'Install today, well worth it not least becaus they discovered' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check vehicle owners manual' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Whether you toss them or not is totally your call, but I can say unequivocally that I wouldnt do or recommend any high speed or aggressive driving on those tires!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What's the treadwear rating of those tires? If it's greater than about 300, I'd get rid of them. If around 200 or less, use them up and get something new.
I would only add a few questions to help make this decision.
1. Have these tires been in service the entire time? car been sitting for 3 years and have flat spots? haven't seen the road in 5 years?
2. Whats the intended purpose for them? track, highway at high sustained speeds, local in town?
3. why were they taken off? i see cardboard in the pic and assume they have been removed.
7 year old tires are not an issue to me at all. although every situation is different. i will use 2 examples. Lets say these tire have limited life left on them and you want to use them in a track event. I personally wouldn't suggest it. On the flip side, if they have been in service the whole time and you are just concerned about the minimal cracking, let the ride!
been in the tire and automotive industry for over 20 years. 10 years of it working for Bridgestone Retail Operations. You will not find an actual written answer to this question. However i can tell you that when i did work for BSRO they had a policy on this. It stated that they would not sell any tire older than 7 years old. Any new stock that reached 7 years of age that was found during an inventory count would have numerous 3/4 inch holes drilled into the sidewall and then be destroyed.
When it came to "in service" tires they had a unwritten policy to recomend replacement to a customer once the tire reached 10 years of age. They had hand outs that would show pictures of different types of age related issues including ozone cracking that would show what was acceptable or not.
simply put, if the tire is not showing any signs of physical issues or wear concerns, the tire was good for use for 10 years from date of in service. if the in service date was not known then it was 10 years from date it was made.
but yet i once asked about they hypothetical " what if a 6 year old tire was sold, its ok to run a tire to 16 years of age?". They would not answer the question.
In most cases tires that are sold are typically within 2 years of the DOT date. It is not often you see tires 4 or more years of age sold new but it does happen on odd sizes.
I tend to stick to the 10 year mark no matter when they were installed. But i drive fast and hard. I also cant see being cheap when it comes to brakes and tires. Why risk it. But to each his own.
Whether you toss them or not is totally your call, but I can say unequivocally that I wouldnt do or recommend any high speed or aggressive driving on those tires! Good luck
Thank You! Had new PS2s fitted today, well worth it not least becaus they discovered that the right front wheel is out of true!
Always nice with fresh rubber, bet they will last until spring 2031, im 60 then!...
Here is the statement from the NHTSA:
Check your vehicle owners manual
for specific recommendations for tire
replacement for your vehicle. Some
tire manufacturers cite 6 years, others
recommend 10 years as the maximum
service life for tires.
As an added data point, here is Discount Tires Policy on their website. Its a topic everyone has different views on
How Long Do Tires Last?
The average life of a tire is determined by the conditions a tire is exposed to throughout its life - not measured in calendar years. Temperature changes, sun exposure, storage conditions, usage, and maintenance schedules all contribute to the rate at which a tire ages.
It is impossible to determine a tires exact life expectancy, because there is no way to account for the level of influence any one of these factors may have on a tire. However, you can defer to the vehicle and tire manufacturers replacement recommendations:
Vehicle manufacturers recommend tire replacement at 6 years.
Tire manufacturers' warranties expire at 6 years.
Tire manufacturers recommend replacement at 10 years, regardless of tread depth.
Discount Tire recommends that you replace your tires after 6 years of age, regardless of tread depth. For your safety, Discount Tire will not service a tire that exceeds 10 years of age.
For curiosity reasons. take a peak at the DOT dates when you get the new tires. On the C4S the front tires are common sizes but the rear are not. When i got my last 2 sets from tire rack, one set of rears were 4 years old when i got them and the second set were only about 7 months old. Same with my track tires. The fronts are newer production but the backs were also 4 years old.
Replace them. I just a few years ago had the sidewall on one of my tires that were 6 years old blow of on the interstate, and they weren't as bad looking.
I would replace. I am not risking my life over trying to get another year out of those tires and potentially having an issue.
If I was only driving to and from cars and coffee though at less than 50mph, then maybe I would continue driving on them.
