So then he remembers having a helluva time trying to re-tighten the power steering hoses due to the cramped location, he checks the hose connections and finds them both wet with power steering fluid!

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So, when our unreliable narrator pulled his 996 out of the garage yesterday to open the bay for some work on a family member's car, he noticed an oily puddle adjacent to where the right rear wheel had been. What's this, he cried (no, I mean literally cried)? This car has just been resurrected from a cracked cylinder head, and a whole lotta other work and $ and cursing besides, but has been silenced by the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission's closure due to COVID-19 (can't get it registered or tagged!) Anyway, this same clown gets the 996 up on a jack stand, pulls the wheel, and start looking around with a flashlight for wetness. Sure enough, seek and ye shall find, every low spot had a droplet ready to fall and it seemed to be coming from the above the valve cover, but it seemed too thin for engine oil. The valve cover had been re-sealed, and the spark plug tube O-rings and oil pressure sender replaced during the cracked cylinder head debacle, and the cam plug was dry. So then he remembers having a helluva time trying to re-tighten the power steering hoses due to the cramped location, he checks the hose connections and finds them both wet with power steering fluid! He uses a 16mm and a 19mm wrench with a small short handled adjustable wrench to tighten both connections, starts and lets the car run for 15 minutes or so, and no more leak. And, as the sun sets over the lovely Rancocas Creek, our humble DIYer rests secure in the knowledge that the underside of his 996 is bone dry.
And after much turmoil, our narrator emerges victorious from the battles against precision German Engineering.
He should enjoy the spoils of victory within the confines of strict quarantine adherence.
I thought the plot was weak but delivered with verve and gusto. The ending was storybook yet unexpected. The role of the protagonist was expertly played by Weazer. A contemporary spoof aimed more at the heart than the head. If you must read one oil leak story this year, this is the one.
I seem to recall this from a Woody Allen movie, "Love and Death" or "Hannah and Her Sisters" maybe? Anyway, the unreliable narrator is one of my favorite literary devices. If you've ever seen the movie "Barrie Lyndon" by Stanley Kubrick, were the protagonist gets into all kind of self inflicted mayhem yet the unreliable narrator portrays him as a victim of fate, you'll know what I mean. Great Stuff.
