Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2001 996 convertible. While removing the rear quarter window and regulator, I figured that I would make sure my water drainage was maximized. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why there is a hole in the bottom of the water drainage tray. Not the hole to the side where it goes to exit the car. There is a hole that feels like it was molded that way in the bottom. Is there something that I am missing here? Seems like I should just seal that up so the water that comes down only goes out the side hole. Any advice here?

POST 2Original post

I don't recall there being a hole. Check the one on the other side and see if it is plugged up in some way. You can remove the rear speaker to inspect the tray. The part numbers are: 99656180503 Water Drip Pan ( DRIVER SIDE ) 1 $104.01 99656180603 Water Drip Pan ( PASSENGER SIDE ) 1 $104.01 Here's an image I found on ebay of the tray...
