Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Btw, I just checked my notes for replacing that lid.
Leading evidence: 'Check notes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check notes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Couldn't see anything however I managed to clean a small part while down there, and stumble across this.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

, I got under the car trying to spot the AOS and any leaking coolant path.
Couldn't see anything however I managed to clean a small part while down there, and stumble across this. I took one of the rubber cover off, hence the hole seen in the picture. I have also have the pic of the cover below.
So what is this thing, nothing poured out of the hole, the cover wasn't coated with oil etc.
BTW the car is a 2003 Tip C4.
Did you try to look up really high at the left rear wheel fender with the wheel removed? You should have a partial view of the AOS and its hoses like this
image.jpg
RMS and IMSB are the only two things that could leak oil directly at the center of the car. The AOS lives at the left side of the engine, right on top of the left rear fender. The right most black plastic thing with a few hoses connected to it in the pic
image.jpg
So after another adventure under the car, I found that the path drawn in red was damp. No damp path on the other side of the engine, under the AOS.
Would the heat exchanger, that is directly above the path drawn, be able to leak coolant?
If the leak doesn't come from a higher point than your red line, I'm pretty sure it's the rectangular cover with two bolts on it (sitting on the left end of your red line). Mine leaked and I replaced it. Just get the cover, which has a built-in rubber gasket that comes with it. Do not get the standalone gasket as shown on PET. You won't need it.
Potentially, as everything above it was dry. I couldn't find any damp section directly below the heat exchanger.
What is that, and is it only hold by the two opposing bolts?
That's just a cover plate to cover a coolant passage and yes just held down by the two bolts. When you remove it, coolant will gush out. I forgot how much but potentially 2 gal.
Thanks Ahsai, 2 gal would be quite a lot, I'd need to bleed the system etc when putting it back?
Do you somehow still remember the P/N of it since I can't find it anywhere
here
.
Its #15 here. You don't need #16.

I don't remember about bleeding at all afterwards. I think I just pour the drained coolant back to the coolant tank.
Thanks!!
"Cap, engine block known as Lid" - G99610101600.
Good news re not needing to 'burp' the system however I have to find a container big enough to hold 2 gal of coolant.
Lol, sorry, forgot you're in the beautiful New Zealand. You gotta have something similar there for mixing concrete?
Btw, I just checked my notes for replacing that lid. 2gal of coolant gushed out and I just poured it right back to the coolant tank, which took most of it. Then left the bleeder valve open and drove for a day, then topped it off after cool down and closed the bleeder valve. Also make sure the mating surface on the engine side is clean and smooth. You can an use scotch pad to clean it.
I also found a photo of the back of the lid that shows the gasket

Haha, another sheep joke
And yes there would be something like that at the local hardware store. Just need to measure that it won't be too high for the car.
Just carried out the fix.
Took this long because I collected the part + the tub over a three month period :-)
Definitely messy with coolant spraying everywhere. The 'cap' didn't want to come out initially after being unbolted, however after another minute it loosened up by itself.
Thanks to Ahsai for the tips.
