Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use 285/30/18' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Test (fun!)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Will do all sorts of testing (fun!) when she's ready!

At this point, using the info above, I can just estimate that my car will easily surpass 120MPH - and could go up to 140MPH...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm wondering if someone might be able to share their engine RPM in 6th gear when travelling at 100MPH in a 3.4L 996.
Also, if someone knows what a steady speed in 6th gear is at 5,500 RPM that may prove helpful as well. I'm limiting my motor to 5,500 RPM.
I'm trying to use this information to help me estimate the top speed of my '99 cab that has almost completed its conversion into an electric car! (You can read more here:

)
I've done some rough 0-60 tests, and I'm pretty close to the stock 5.3 seconds, but still tweaking things out. I have a feeling I'm faster 0-40 than stock. Will do all sorts of testing (fun!) when she's ready!
I know for a fact when I am travelling at 80mph in 6th gear my revs are bang on 3000 revs. So I see a differance to the latter posting. I also have 18 inch wheels. Ummm strange. And mine is the 1999 C2 Cabriolet as you have.
Interesting Hurdi... I guess these will have to truly remain estimates and not taken for hard truth. If you get bored on an open stretch of highway, feel free to test further... ha!
At this point, using the info above, I can just estimate that my car will easily surpass 120MPH - and could go up to 140MPH... the electric motor doesn't have lots of HP, and gets weaker at the high RPM.
I share this info with the engineer leading the build, here's what he had to say:
"I really don't know if it will get up to that speed. The engineer in my head wants to get the coefficient of drag for your car's aerodynamic shape at that speed, a the estimated rolling resistance of the tires, and the estimated drag your transmission experiences at that load, and that RPM... but you can see the accuracy of the sum of these estimates is far more challenging than just driving it to find out. So we'll default to that! Hopefully on a track somewhere without ditches and telephone poles. Not to mention police cars lurking in the shadows..."
Love it... and can't wait to see!
You are looking at your inaccurate rev counter and speedometer. My numbers are mathematically correct. Porsche is known to overstate the speed on the factory speedometers, so your 80MPH is in fact 76MPH.
Two things. One is the speedo in these cars is optimistic. An 80mph indicated could very well be 4 or 5 miles per hour lower actual speed. (This is the error my 02 Boxster's speedo has.)
The other thing is the tach is optimistic as well. 3K indicated could only be 2900 actual.
