Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone. While under the car this weekend replacing engine and trans mounts, noticed this plate is leaking. Already had some crusty residue when I bought the car, but now visually seeping when the car is parked for long periods of time like it has been last couple weeks while I worked on it(still not enough to drip on the ground) Looks like Pelican parts has the replacement cover fairly cheap but before I order that, I does anyone know if the o-ring gasket alone is available by itself? Will be doing water pump and t-stat + coolant flush next, so Id like to take care of that as well. For reference this cover is on the passenger rear of the engine, just to the left of the gearbox bell housing. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

996-101-216-52 SS to 996-101-016-00. Also use seal 996-101-336-50 seal. That is a coolant passage cover, draining and refilling coolant is required. --Aaron

Looks like I found it?? Can anyone confirm?

Thank you so much for the quick reply! Yes, coolant flush is planned.

POST 5Original post

This part changed during the life cycle of these engines. The cover is either sealed with an o-ring or a flat metal gasket. The o-ring is not available if you have the o-ring type. If you have the o-ring type, you need to buy the cover that uses the flat metal gasket and the metal gasket listed above. The flat metal gasket cover will not seal correctly with the o-ring cover.

POST 6Original post

LN is coming out with this part made from an aluminum billet. The original cover is a cast piece and they are known to warp over time and begin to leak. you may want to contact LN about price and availability for their billet piece. Mark

Is that part in one of the pictures that are being sponsored on Facebook? I saw the advertisement with a lot of machined parts in it, and one of them looked like the makings of that cover..

The LN Part also has additional ports for a temperature gauge and anything else you want to install.
