Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have the base base system with no door speakers, and I replaced all 4 of my speakers with the Hertz units from CAI.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 4 of my speakers' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 4 of my speakers' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. PO appears to have replaced all the speakers already.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Howdy everyone. Im sure its been covered ad nauseum but I cant find it. Im trying to do a stereo replacement in my 2003 C4S (hiFi, not Bose) and I understand I need to bypass the factory amplifier. I dont plan to replace the amp, just bypass it.
Is this feasible?
If so, how do I actually do it?
If not, I guess Ill buy an amp and follow instructions Ive seen elsewhere but I dont really feel like I need an amp.
PO appears to have replaced all the speakers already. I sent my factory head unit to Becker Autosound for the Bluetooth mod, but it sounds like generally poor FM radio reception. (Because it is.) I picked up a Sony unit and am looking for the most straightforward way to bypass my amp and wire this up.
Links appreciated.
Unit waiting for installation
Thats the same head unit I got. I have the base base system with no door speakers, and I replaced all 4 of my speakers with the Hertz units from CAI. The sound is very good, although bass response is unsurprisingly poor (not distorted or weird, just weak). Your car does have the door speakers though and you would also want to drive them unless you are also going to get a subwoofer. (I am installing a small powered sub soon, myself). To bulypass your amp would be a bit of a pain as you would have to find the speaker wires coming out of the amp and (a) extend them to link up with the head unit and (b) figure out how to distribute the 4 channels coming out of the head unit to 6 speakers.
Id say just get the appropriate harness to connect to your amp and be done with it.
CAI can supply all the necessary components and also give you great 1:1 service.

So you think I should keep the factory amplifier? I thought it was a problem since the new(-er) speakers are 4-OHM units and the factory is a 2-OHM setup. (Disclosure: I may be the most uninformed stereo guy in North America. Just saying it's possible.)
