Recently acquired a 996.2 carrera 4s and noticed the oil pressure gauge reads between 3 - 4 at idle but pegs at 5 above 2k rpms. Is this indicating a problem? The oil was just changed with Mobil 1 0-40w and is filled to the proper mark.

OP - Welcome! Is that pressure cold or full warm at 95C? At intermediate temp, say for first 10 minutes of run time, pressure will be anywhere from 3-5 bar above 2000 rpm. Mine has always stayed around 4 bar to pegged during first 5 minutes, regardless of oil weight. Warm pressure will generally idle from .9 to 1.5 and above (min) 3.5 bar for >5000 rpm for most with 0w40.

Thanks for your comment. I was just nervous that running at 5 bars at 3k rpms might have indicated some blockage or issue causing an abnormally high pressure.

Gauge sender is crappy and not accurate. You dont have 45psi at hot idle, trust me

For real...never "trust" the factory gauge unless you have compared it to a "real analogue gauge " then only use it to monitor for any unusual changes...
