Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just purchased a 3rd 996. Mechanically the car is mint, but cosmetically it needs some work. Does anyone have a recommendation where to purchase dashboard trim? The OEM is dark burr maple, but I am considering going to black. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Suncoast is always good for me: Dashboard & Trim : Suncoast Porsche Parts & Accessories (suncoastparts.com)

POST 3Original post

dark burr maple is hilariously expensive (or a hilarious backorder). I would just go to black

POST 4Original post

2500 bones...Yikes. https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/911LTWood.html

POST 5Original post

yeah my car probably has enough light wood options to buy a second 996 wheel/****/e-brake/radio surround/trim strips

POST 6Original post

Why not try finding a wood furniture specialist to refurbished and buy a used black one till it’s ready

POST 8Original post

Going to black should be fairly easy for you as the parts are the most commonly available new as well as off of wrecked cars. Speaking of wrecked cars - that's where I'd look for your trim. Just check every now and then on the 'Bay and other part-out sites. Eventually some dark burr maple will get pried out of a poor wrecked 996.

POST 9Original post

Sand it down and spray it yourself? Seems pretty doable.

POST 10Original post

AutoAtlanta, a Porsche shop in the Atlanta, Georgia area is where I found some of my interior pieces. Good luck with it!

Without knowing for sure, I would wager that they apply a veneer to a core/substrate so there may not be much material for a craftsman to sand down and work with. It could also be an engineered veneer.

This ^. If you're going to go black anyway it's worth a shot. I had some spots that needed attention on my black horseshoe and found a matte black spray paint that matched the finish perfectly.

POST 13Original post

I have the light wood interior and it almost impossible to find used pieces in good shape or pay a crazy amount. One thing I did with 2 pieces was to find someone who does hydro dip and had them match it as close as possible. I am happy with the results.
