Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

'99 cabriolet, 6 speed manual - good start so far!
Gearbox code on sticker is G9600-00, but it also has code 220 on the options list, which https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/option-codes/996-98-01/ lists as LSD.
Thanks!
The 99s with LSD all have 3 option codes to make LSD work with TC:
220 SPERRDIFFERENTIAL (LSD)
222 TRACTION CONTROL (ASR)
224 AUTO. BRAKE DIFFERENTIAL (ABD)
I have a 99 like this. Its been a good car for the last 5 years that Ive owned it. Tell us more about the car, maybe we can weigh in on what to look out for.
buy it before its too late, the 1999 911 might go down as literally the best porsche in history. I heard it was basically a stock 996 that won at LeMans
Here's the sticker. Haven't seen the car in person yet, and will be doing a PPI locally ofc. IMS, Clutch, RMS, drive belt all done within last 2 years (haven't seen receipts yet but will confirm). 46k miles on the clock. Need to grab the Carfax too but friend I'm purchasing it from will provide. Not seeing the VIN on any old copart auctions so that's a plus!
The only inspection worth paying for is one where Jake Raby personally dismantles the entire engine and certifies it. Catch him before he heads to his 120 acres to forget about Porsche owners.
I’m at little upset that some in this gruppe are very brutal In responding
ive come from the Bmw world and had my E30 M3 over 20 years in that time we had a big choice of techs over 20 with a few who “really care”as of today locally I have 2 choices one sucks and the other doesn’t answer his phone anymore
let’s at least appreciate the good guys a while longer because they’re not here forever
I'm assuming you mean 3.5k not 35k? If we're talking a full blown Nickies rebore and high zoot race components build every year I might as well buy a cpo 991.2.
Price is just over 25k. If there's scored bores or some other obvious issue I'll probably pass.
What's with BMW owners constantly using the factory designation code to talk about their cars? Is it really that hard to say, 1990 M3 instead of this M30 horse$hit? I had to look up what year it was and so would everyone else that isn't very familiar with this brand.
Thats a good price for the mileage. If it checks out, Id go for it. Please know that repairs can be very expensive though. I spent $18k in 5 years on a car that was purchased for $17.5k. Much of that wasnt necessary, but about 1/2 of it absolutely was. PORSCHE; Plenty Of Receipts, Sorry, Cant Have Everything.
You could get lucky and spend a lot less, or unlucky and spend a lot more. Expectations need to be set with the spouse. We (people) spend tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions (if you live long enough) of the money we earn in life. Organic food, taxes, alcohol, vacations. Pick your poison, maybe your splice can pick hers. But Life is too short not to drive a 996.
I'm serious. Have to look it up every time someone uses that lingo. This is the same when people use acronyms expecting everyone else to know what they are talking about . A very narrow sighted view. Is it that difficult to use an extra number and just type the year or is this just a way to show off your expert knowledge in a brand?
