Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What would cause my diagional braces bolt holes not to line up properly. I needed to remove the braces to rip the engine/trans on a 2002 996 w/Tiptronic. When I went to reinstall them, I put in the center two pegs, but the end bolt holes are about 1/2" off. Could the jacking up and down cause I think to get out of whack?

POST 2Original post

Yes. Use strong ratchet straps to pull things back into alignment.Easy on a 2 post lift with the wheels dangling. Do it progrerssively. May need an alignment after? Others may suggest a technique using tall jack stands

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Any idea of where I should attach the straps to massage it back into square? I really haven't looked into how it might have shifted and in what direction.

POST 4Original post

Generally -jacking the car won't cause alignment issues .Jack stands supporting the car by the cast aluminum suspension components can- especially with the cross member out .The crossmember bolt is a good reference point -hold the brace up- put the crossmember bolt thru with a few turns and you will be able to determine what is off .

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok. I am a dumbass. Sorry for wasting electrons. I went back out with a clear mind and as usual, most solutions are the simplist ones. I swapped ends...fit perfectly.
