Suggestion

The noise is insignificant and if it bothers you, you can insulate it (wrap it with silicone tubing) Make sure you re-use the rubber grommet that is on the stock cables.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good day. I have been wondering if the 996 and 997 shifter cables will both fit the 02/996. I ordered a Numeric shifter and would like some smooth shifting cables at a reasonable price and longevity (can't afford Numeric cables right now, and not sure that's what I need.) From what I read, some cables are more noisy, and some are smooth. Some drivers like cup cables, etc. I do not track, but drive with purpose. Any input would be appreciated, especially about the "997"cables. Thank you all.

POST 2Original post

The noise is insignificant and if it bothers you, you can insulate it (wrap it with silicone tubing) Make sure you re-use the rubber grommet that is on the stock cables. If you have exhaust on the car, you won't have to worry because you won't hear it over the exhaust. That is how minor the issue is. 996/997 will fit 02/996. The 996 is the same cable as the 997.

POST 3Original post

I installed the Numeric shift console and cables at the same time on my Boxster. Save you money and get their cables too.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ended up buying Numeric shifter and Numeric cables. The shifter has arrived and looks amazing; will instal as soon as cables arrive next week.
